Different question on diff oil

Hi all, I have a different angle on the diff quiestion. I am racing my buggy for the frist time tomorrow, and before my choice of cars gets bashed. I bought it used to pass the time for me while staioned in Korea Ofna Ultra LX Pro

Anyways, I do not have access to diff oil. Can I use grease to alter the spooling and unspooling of the diffs? Put the most in the middle, a half that much in the fron and half again as much in the rear to achieve the affect similar to the diff oil. Obviously I know diff oil would be better, but like I said. I can't get my paws on any. Thanks for your time.

Its not the amount of oil its the thickness.
I'm not to sure what to suggest you use.
Will anyone at the track give you some to use?
Usually they are a good group and help when they can.

The races start at 9AM, and then I would still have to put it back together and race. As it is I have to leave here between 6 and 7 to get there on time. And then there is the language barrier. :shrug: :radio: Okay, but if anything comes to mind. I will check back often. Thanks

I have raced with grease, it just gets squirlly. Watch you throttle finger, be smooth. Dif oil make is so the diffs make it so you hook up traction where without it you have to be a feather finger. Remember it's your first race no worries it's just for fun. Have a good time with it. WATCH PEOPLE!!!! learn from them.

I may have mislead a little bit. This is the first race with the buggy. I have raced for about 10 years, just vever a triple diff car. I have never been in a Nitro race. I have been to this particular Korean track several times on the practice days. Lots of Kyoshos and Mugens and Ofna Hypers out there. I have gotten pretty decent att he track, infact actually satying with if not beating alot of the faster guys out there. They all seem pretty suprised about the buggy, I was just looking for a little more performance out of my beast Thanks humboldtblazer

Viscosity is the issue.
If you can go find some single viscosity oils at the parts store or motor pool. You will need 3 different weights, Thick, thicker and way thick. The thinest being about the same as 90 wt rear end lube and the thickest would be like cold maple syrup.

Well I took them all off and here is what I decided to do, for the rear I used 90WT gear oil. In the middle I used peanut butter and in the front I used Jelly. No seriously, when I took the center one out, to my suprise, it was a torsen. Remember I bought it used. for the front I used gear grease with a small amount of 90 wt gear oil to mix with it to make it flow, and the rear, just the gear oil. I put a small amount of grease in the torsen just enough to lube the gears. Remember, I had to improvise because of the non availabilty of the correct stuff. I will be back in the states in 3 weeks, and I will clean it all out and get the right stuff.

Now with the torsen diff in it, what WILL the proper weights of the diff oil be?
