Different pitch gears

If I switch both the pinion and the spur gear can I go to 32p on a Traxxas trans that is 48p??

as long as pinion and spur are same pitch YES..

Correct. I've been doing it over 10 years. The 4x4 models with the huge center cut out won't work. The jato, revo, and tmaxx style gears work.

For pinion I say Robinson Racibg hardened. If you have different motor shafts you can get a pinion for the larger shaft and insert a reducer to make it work.
