I have a Tamiya M chassis car that I just built for bashing around in the street. I have used both the stock Tamiya motor and a Trinity Revenge of the Monster stock motor. I really didnt see much difference except a little in the run time - race my brothers car which is the same thing with the stock Tamiya and I did win, but not by much. I have been thinking about a 15 turn or 17 turn motor. I know Orion has the Havok for about $15, and Trinity has some touring motors for under $20. How much of a difference would there be in the 15, 17 or even the 27 turn I have in terms of speed, acceleration, and run time (all things equal - battery pack, etc).

ok, well in general if they are all the same brand, the lower the turn rate, the faster it will go. But that is also the same for how long the battery will last, and your motor life. I used to have a speedgems kobal (13 turn) in my Tamiya TT-01, and it pulled 30mph. But if you get the really good motors, say you get an offbrand 17 turn motor, and a brand name 27 turn motor, somethimes the 27 will be better and faster just becuase It was made and tuned better... Hope that helps.

Sounds a bit like my Tamiya Mini, firsty thing i did, was chuck out the mechanical speed controler, stock motor and stock battery.

I'm currently running an unlimited (motor turn wise) Electronic speed controller on a ten turn tripple wound motor through a 3500 7.2v battery pack.

The difference is speed and accelleration, the best thing i did though, was to upgrade the battery. I can run for quite a while, yet not as long as i would like.

THINGS to remember when looking for a new motor are;

Will my Speed controller handle it & Will my battery handle the power usage of my battery.

Experience teaches the hard way, that a powerful motor can and does kill battery packs if they can not handle a particular motor.

Hope this is of help to you

Run while you can! Don't let the word electric fool ya, it's just a conspracy to spend more!

Electrics have a higher "initial cost" when it comes to support equipment.

Hey diver, you got that right on the head man !! i spent out nearly £100 on a charger and 2 spare batteries for the car, then another £50 on rechargeables + charger for my handset (TX unit).

Conspracy ?? is that the same as conspiracy ?? lol
