Have any of you guys bother to check how much the temps of your engines vary from full tank to empty?

Which ride? Size of tank will make a big difference.

On my NTC3 for instance, there is not much of a variable at all.

On my Savage it can be about 10-15 degrees hotter towards the end of a run.

In my ofna buggy, It goes from about 220-260. I try to keep my car under 250, but if I do that. It runs too rich when its at full tank. I think 40degrees is too much to vary from full to empty. Pressure line maybe? too short?

There is a lot of factors involved.

By logic the temps will rise near the end of the tank.

1) It take more pressure to push the fuel to the engine. This will make the engine run leaner.

2) Most people are running their RCs and the engine will typically be warmer after a full tank of running. Again there are a lot of different factors here as well.

I will step out on a limb and say they will be hotter at the end.
I check mine constantly while bashing and do see the temps higher toward the end by 3-5 degrees on the larger mills and heavier RCs.

Yea I think my T-maxx runs about 10-20 degrees hotter, but its hard to tell because of all the different conditions and terain I run in. You would have to have an engine stand and a fan on the engine at the same speed and just let the engine idle through the entire tank and record temps through out.

Same.... about a 5 to 10 diffrence depending on the climate outside. On some days I can dun my car and it never changes temp but by 3 to 5 degrees full or empy tank. I've got my Storm running 215 degrees in 85 degree weather and its still powerfull, I'm so proud, lol.

This is a HUGE issue for me. I get the maxx running, rich at the top of the tank. About 240 and gutless. It wakes up toward the middle of the tank, and I can have some fun. Near the end of the tank it gets 260-270 and I have to retune.

I guess what I am saying with my Maxx is that the variance is so great I have to tune at the beginning and the end of the tank. If I don't I'm too rich to run without flame out at the top of the tank. Then, I'm so lean at the end it gets too hot.

Tunning and tunning and tweaking, even changing gears. My maxx just wants to run good at like 260-280, even nearing 300 it loves it.Anything under 260 and it's just a friggen dog.

Thats wierd mine likes it at about 230, anything above that and it stalls and shuts off and shows symptoms of overheating. When I first start I leave it so it is barely running and spitting fuel but then once its warmed up its great and can do endless wheelies in forward and reverse.

my maxx dont like ti over 260 it likes it around 220-230 and yes i do have the 2.5 still in it

Same here Lykan,
I run the 2.5 and my maxx runs screamin demon and then just when it's just about empty the temp climbs to 280 or a tad higher, runs bout 250 - 260 throughout wot's. Doesn't concern me too much, my maxx likes it and runs completely perfect.
Alot has to do with finding the perfect tune.
Mines not exactly perfect, but as long as there's no indications of the engine failing or too hot, Then rock and roll.

i would have to say the engine temp would get hotter towards the bottom of the tank, engine running a bit leaner.

later

Just as Maxx said, it's normal with the leaning of the engine towards the end of the tank. What I usually try to do is aim for that temp just befire it cuts out.

Car would run slightly rich in the beginning but as she uses more fuel, performance picks up and by the time it's almost done, she's not running too lean and is still saving the engine.
