The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for Long Island, NY through Saturday night. Snow will continue to be heavy at times with strong winds creating whiteout conditions. Gusts will range from 20 to 40 mph. With the full moon and the high tide cycle, Long Island will see some coastal flooding and beach erosion as well.

Long Island residents can expect an additional 7-10 inches by Sunday morning, making the total snowfall 12-24 inches.

I'm up near Cooperstown and we're at about a foot. Not too bad, but bad enough to suck up the roads. You're right. Couldn't just get a few inches here and there. I hope this is all winter has in store for us. Last year was to blizzards a week apart and a total of 6 feet between them. Hell of a Christmas vacation...

I'm about 2 hours away, but I'll make the trip. I have to see one of my uncles there. He lives by Nassau county.

Well the woman gets off of work around 11, I'll give her a call then and find out. All I know for sure is that it takes an hour to get from her place to NYC by train.

Shoot, we should all make it a point to get together. I'm in Queens, basically the begining of Long Island. This snow sux big time! Good thing we have a snow blower. Not the kind that sears or homedepot sell. It's commercial grade, a Gravely with a 38" wide track. It's the "Tim Allen" grade machine but not a Binford 2000.

Masapequa's not too far. Even closer if there's a nice strip club in the mix, right Msly?
