ok i was doing a couple more laps and then i was shuttin it off cause it was getting too dark to see, so i do a U-turn and hit the gas, and it revs up really high, but it was going really slow, like maybe 1/2 normal speed at best. so i stopped it and kinda looked it over, and tried again, same thing, ran for about a min like that, and then shut her off, kinda had a burning smell but that might have just been the exhaust, is this a common symptom for anything? I'm about to go start cleanin it up and checkin things out but i figured i would ask some experts.

P.S. I searched but didnt come up with much....

You could have your tuning off just enough for it to load up. Then when you pulled a U turn,Tire spin probablly caused it to unload and rev up. Or the tires could have spun enough to reduce the resistant and it revved because of this. Other than that i have no idea why it would rev like that.

hmm... i think i explained it wrong, it rev'd up cause i gave it gas, i went full throttle and it didnt take off fast like normal, it just went super slow... :(

Check your slipper clutch, it might be a little loose, this can also give you a nice burnt small.

What kind of car/truck is it? I would be first inclined to think it's your slipper clutch and the burning smell is the plastic spur gear melting. Either that, or you've got some serious bind in your drivetrain and the clutch on the engine is slipping and melting the clutch shoes.

Yep, my thoughts exactly.

wow, i think that is all beyond me, lol. I'm a total newb, i think imma stop by my lhs today and see if the guy can help me out. i did a little disassemble last night to clean things up but man there is alot of screws, and i dont want to end up with one exta just yet, i have alot to learn... unless you guyz know of any good repairing links?

Revo 3.3, about two days old now, right?

Man, skip the LHS. Best way to learn is to dig into it. Your manual should have exploded parts diagrams for your rig, if not, go to www.traxxas.com and download them.

Slipper clutch is attached to your spur gear. One nut holds the spur/clutch on, just remove that and make sure you keep the two washers that are behind that nut. Pull it out, then there are three bolts that hold the spur to the slipper clutch itself. Make sure the spur hear hasn't been eaten up and that the slipper clutch pads are still in good shape.

Good luck! Take your time and be thorough. If you rush it, you'll get very frustrated and end up hating the hobby.

MW gave you some great advice.... (even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and again!) LOL J/K...

Seriously though, like MW said take your time and enjoy it. If you stay involved in this hobby long enough you will have your rig in pieces a few times. Everybody has to start somewhere. My first truck was a Tmaxx 2.5 and I was so affraid to take it apart. I had the same problem you are describing. My slipper got out of wack and I melted the spur and the clutch shoes. I had no choice but to take apart and I am glad I did. It tought me so much about how these things run. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
