I agree, I have also helped derail.

I also agree this is not a personal issue, it's just all of it added up is a little overdoing it.
I would hate to see RCNT go down the drain as well

My computer is in the corner, does that count?

anyway, I have an idea that may help us in these trying times of snow and cold. In one of the forums I used to visit, we had what was called an "OT Thread" or Off Topic thread. maybe we could sticky one of these in the general chaos area and just let it go. the thread is designed to be derailed from the beginning, this way we dont end up with threads that end up like "I almost got a ticket" as much. agreed though, that one deserved it.

That one DID deserve it, and I am still waiting for that wheelie vid. +1 on chuck's idea! A place for those whom want to pound on one another to go to beat the horse dead all they want.

Talk about going down the drain! Here's a thread about derailing that's been derailed. :whhooo:

I may be out of line here, but I thought it was against the forum rules to derail threads, and yet it seems to have been forgotten.
Some of the higher profile members have even become post whores by posting 2 or 3 word replies, something else thats a no no, yet the powers that be dont seem to be paying too much attention, some are even culprits.
There seems to be a lot more stand up comics than generally helpfull people now, and its getting a little sad!

Every year at this time, most of the members are either snowed in, or inside due to freezing temperatures. Either way, the hobby goes on hold, but MORE spare time is still spent here, on RCNT, without any details on the days R/C activities.

Every year we have a few knock down, drag out cyber beatings between members because they are all suffering from cabin fever. Those threads end up in FFA, and other members start to take sides and participate. Feelings are hurt, and nothing is gained.
Something YOU are not aware of is the fact that I, and other moderators, have removed posts that would lead to a cyber beating, just to let the clowning around continue, and avoid a confrontation.

Now that Christmas is already behind us, there will be MANY threads looking for new information, and they will get the info needed. That's what we're here for.

Did I participate in a few? Absolutely. Why? Because I've been through this for several years, and this is your first pre-Christmas season here. I would much rather share a few laughs at MY expense or the expense of other members, than try to moderate a fist fest in cyberspace.

I, for one, TOTALLY enjoyed seeing this thread about derailing, get derailed. :D

It's December 26th. Everybody get ready to do what we do best. Give the newbies the accurate info that will get them up and running.

Anyone besides myself notice that the derailing has gone down to near zero and yet the grumblings continue? We, the accused, have backed off as asked (actually no one asked us to stop) so can we let this and the other derail thread serve as a safe haven? The point has been taken so let's not beat it into the ground...
