Crystal Swap Question

The HPI RS4 comes with a AM reciever and i have a JR XR3I. Can I just put a JR FM Crystal in the stock reciever and it work. Thanx

No, you need a JR FM 75 Mhz compatible receiver, ie JR, Airtronics, Hitec DCX, Novak XXL or XXTra.

AM and FM won't work together, however, it has nothing to do with frequency....AM means "amplitude modulation"...the command sent from the radio is based on varying signal strengths....FM means "frequency modulation"...the radio commands are sent on a changing wavelength....in any case, the equipment won't work together...you can change frequencies within the same band, as long as they're the same type (AM or FM)...27mHz or 75mHz won't intermix either...hope this clears things up.

I think i understand but yet I dont. Say could i take a 82 channel 75mhz FM remote and operate a 82 channel 75mhz AM reciever

It wont work.
They are two different animals.
Because they operate differently it may even harm your radio is in-fact you could even get the crystal to fit.

Think about it this way. You can listen to the radio station 104 fm on your radio because you have tuned your radio to that frequency. The station is transmiting frequency 104Mhz and your are listening to it because who have tuned your radio to recieve frequency 104Mhz. You can listen to any station as long as you match the frequency that the radio station is broadcasting. Same thing for AM radio stations. You have to switch to AM in order to listen to AM. You can't listen to FM on AM and AM on FM. The frequencies dont match.
