Hey guys,

I have the ofna chrome top bumpbox that I used for my 1/8th scale buggy. It worked great... started the buggy everytime. Now I am trying to set it up to start the CRT and I am getting nowhere fast. I don't even think the box will work with the CRT. I figured Ofna only makes a couple of 1/8th scale boxes and the chrome top is supposed to be the best one Ofna makes. I figured Ofna would make the CRT to work with its own starter boxes. Anyone else having problems with this or have found a way to make it work? Any help would be great... seeing as this is my last week off before I start work again next week. Thanks guys.

Is it not turning the 30 over? Please elaborate.

CRT & Startboxes

I have the same issue with the CRT and the Thunder Tiger starter box.
My TTR starter box works with an EB4 buggy and an Ofna Blazer ST, but not with the CRT.
The reason for this is the CRT's chassis is a little longer and wider than most buggies and truggues (Blazer) so the starter wheel doesn't line up with the CRT's flywheel slot that seems a little too far back

If you have the same issue than I do, then it seems as if another starter box may be in order.
I do have plans to modify my TTR starter box to allow the front pegs to open up a little more so I can position the CRT a little more to the front to align the flywheel.

If your suffering compression locks with your starter box, then loosen the glowplug a little to reduce compression. Once started, tighten the glowplug

Sorry Guys for the lack of info...

I am having difficulty lining the flywheel up with the wheel on the starter box. I am unable to get the CRT to line up. When I can get the box to turn over, I just eat up the wheel on the box. Then when I think I have it lined up and go to push down on the box, I get nothing but the sound of the box trying to turn over. I can rotate the flywheel with my finger... not a complete stroke, but it does not seem the compression is so high that the box can't turn it over. This is the box ofna says works with this truck but I am unable to use it so far. I hope this helps. Thanks again guys.

i have the same starter box and used it tons of times with my ofna buggy then i rebuilt the sportwerks .26 and put a new flywheel and clutch shoes on and went to start it and found out it wouldnt turn over the motor so i figured i had to put the pullstart back on to break it in but then i looked at the starter wheel and flywheel and found out that it didnt hit the flywheel enough to turn it obbver so i had to go back to the stock ofna big flywheel and no more problems so i would check that be4 you buy another starter box just my 2 cents

Thanks for the info guys. Imbroken I have read about that TKO plate while I was looking for hopups for the CRT. Pretty cool part and I may end up with that before it is all said and done. However I have figured out how to make it work with a little help from the good folks down at my lhs. Seems as if the way the lid sat on the bumpbox it made the starter wheel bind against the chassis and the flywheel. What we ended up doing was aligning the back pegs and then put a gromet inbetween the lid and the starting posts inside the box. Where the screw goes to hold the lid down. That raised the lid up just enough so that the CRT's rear end was up just a bit higher than the front so that when you pushed down to start the truck the truck was level with the top of the box. Then we put a piece of tire foam strip on the front top of the box to keep the front from sliding.... viola! the truck started right up. Hope this helps anyone still having problems getting the CRT to start. Thanks for all the help guys. I still may end up with the starter plate from TKO, but for now I want to be able to start my buggy and CRT with the same box. I would just have to realign my pegs to the sharpie mark for the buggy placement.

Tom, can u post up a pic of your box setup. I've kinda following, but not 100%. thanks

CRT Starterbox

I have found a starterbox that works with the CRT without any modifications
It's the LRP 37110 startyer box.
I had to bias the CRT slightly to one side, but it works and can quite happily turn a brand new (never run) .28 engine over!
It also takes 2x7.2V stick packs and has alligator clips for a 12V battery

Edit: Typos
