I've got a few questions...

First, whats the best all around pipe for the revo? I bent my header and tore the coupler today, and called that a good enough excuse to get a new pipe lol. My friend has the Trinity pipe, and the thing is crazy loud. Not sure I want something that loud, but if its the best pipe I might pick it up. How is the resonator? I'm just looking for an all around pipe for a bit more power/sound.

Second, my carb will not open all they way up. The servo will open it about 80% or so on a full charge on the battery. If I take of the return spring it opens all the way but then it won't close without the spring. Is there anything I can do to get it open without getting a more powerful servo? My brakes also kinda suck compared to my friends Revo, hes got the stock servo too...maybe my battery or servo is going bad?

I have the Resonator, Cvec, and Trinity and to me the pipe that that has the most power output is the Trinity. The cvec and Resonator are a hell of a lot quieter. The Resonator gives good torque and speed but just not as much as the Trinity.

For the carb make sure nothing is binding and you may have to turn the carb a little bit, that was a problem with mine also. For you brakes, your pads may be worn or glazed, and the disk may be worn shiny.

i second the trinity , its loud but i love the noise of a real monster truck and it adds alot of power still.get yourself a motor saver filter with prefilter and you are set

So... you got another revo after selling me yours? Just couldn't let it go huh? Or did you have two?

For the throttle, I setup the linkage differently so I don't need the TRS, similar to the savage OFNA slider mod. A quick fix (suggested at traxxas forum) is to stretch the stock spring a little bit off the truck so it isn't so strong.

The brakes on mine weren't very good either. I added an OFNA slider onto the brake lever which made it about 2-3mm longer so the servo had more leverage. That helped. Adding a 645MG servo for throttle/brake made a heck of a difference though as well. I can't remember now if I have a 645MG now or a futaba S3305. Both are high (medium) torque metal geared servos. The 645 is a bit stronger of the two.

As for a pipe, I've been really pleased with the Fantom pipe combined with the 18TM header. The stock headers break way to easy. I broke 4 or 5 (@$22 a piece) before I bought my 18TM engine. I used the 2.5R (as a winter engine) with the 18TM header and it worked great as well. The Fantom pipe is louder than stock and adds quite a bit of low end power for the 2.5R. The 18TM really woke up when I used that pipe with it. I had no idea how much power that thing had. The stock pipe was robbing it blind! The fantom pipe sound is not nearly as soft as stock either. It's a much sharper 2-cycle ping.

Here's the throttle linkage mod when I was using the stock servo:

If you end up wanting better steering, a single 985MG with the HD servo saver spring slaps the tires back and forth with ease.

Stupid me, I also have my throttle set up the way Olds has his, and it's great.

He has Plasti-dip or somthing similar on his servos. Keeps the water out of them.

I posted the throttle thing along time ago and ever since olds showed me that pic that has been what I have been running with no complaints. You can also try a associated throttle return spring, I use one on my racer and its softer then the traxxas, if you havent noticed the traxxas is really stiff. As far as a pipe goes the trinity seems to give the most power out of what I have tried, the resignator dosent have as much power threw out the band as the trinty by feel but is a increas over stock. Paired with a os.18tm header is a good setup, prevents busted stock headers. Today I drilled out the stinger on my stock pipe and polished it to look like the resignator, I washed it out and will test the power tomarrow but from what I have hear its noticible increas. Good luck man.

Thanks for the info guys. I can try moving the carb a bit and see if that helps. I may just get a better servo though...

olds I got a Revo 3.3 because I've had so many savages I wanted to try something new haha. I like the 3.3 much better than the 2.5 Revo I sold you. The 2.5 just was not enough power for me.

I know the trinity has the most power, but I was running the Revo with my friend today, and that trinity is incredibly loud. The resonator looks like basically the same as the stock pipe, but polished which has me worried that its not much better than the stocker.

Ok I am beginning to have an idea. I was at the sandpit yesterday and drove my Revo, and my MBX5T. The Revo was obviously fun as hell, it just needs more power. The 5T really wasn't in its place, and since I do not have a track nearby, I'm thinking about selling it off, taking the 5645 and 5625 servos and putting them on the Revo to solve that problem, and using the cash to pick up a RB TM523 engine kit, which also comes with an tuned pipe and header which solves that problem, along with my lower power issues haha.

My question now is, can a Revo handle that engine, and not break all the time? Or would I be better off with a .18TM and a trinity. I understand the 523 is too much power, and will wear out the drivetrain, but how quickly? lol And yes I know I will get wheelies, but I'm not too worried about it since I will mostly drive it on loose dirt where there isn't enough traction for wheelies.

Well, I ran an XTM 24.7 in mine and it was almost undrivable. At a motocross track, it was useless. I had to feather the throttle so much that it was a chore to drive. I actually switched back to the 18TM and now it's fun again.

I didn't really have any drive train issues, just over powered issues.

The 18TM doesn't have more power than the 3.3. At least not according to XtremeRC Dyno. It has a smoother power to RPM ratio though and isn't as peaky as the 3.3.

Hmmm...the 3.3 really isn't enough power. It just doesn't feel powerful, where as my savages did. I don't think the RB .23 will have quite the power that the 24.7 did. Maybe I will try throwing the 5625 on the revo and make sure my carb gets fully open and see how everything feels.

Anyone here have the 523? beason I know you have an RB in you revo...

Or another idea is OS is coming out with a OS.21tm that is a direct drop in. Just a thought.

the 523 is a great drop in, spendy yes, but you will not complain about not enough power. I havent broken anything on the drivetrain yet, and I've ran the heck out of it. mostly on grass to where wheelie traction is good.

you may also look into the picco .26 maxx, I've heard great things about it and with the AB mod job it is rumored to be crazy powerfull. doesn't come with a pipe though, but I've heard good things about the resonator, or you could get the jato resonator and sidepipe the rig with that and you wont break any headers. this is what slaydaddy runs

check out the picco 26 max... in my revo that engine is beastly powerful and still easy to tune. I can pull wheelies on pavement or grass pretty much at will, sometimes even shifting from first to second. currently I'm running the stock pipe, but I'll be getting the THS pipe as soon as I can, I've heard nothing but good things about that pipe. check it out.

maybe someone should mention the picco .26 maxx?? If you do get this one check out the mod job by AB mods

just remember those are mid block engines and if you go with one you may not get the most performance out of a pipe tuned for a small block ( stock, rezonator, trinity, etc). I've heard of people running the maxx and the ofna jp-3 pipe. the rb pipe is also "big blockish" with the larger stinger. i currently run an ofna buggy pipe on my 523...

Has anyone heard of the Picco .26 Maxx?

lol, thanks for the info guys. I'm liking the RB more at the moment, I've wanted to try an RB engine for a long time. And after buying the Picco, the mount, and a pipe its not that much less than a RB 523.

Beason running a BB pipe on the side I'm sure works really well for power, but I'd like to keep my pipe in the back and small enough I can run a body without any mods to it.
