How easy would it be to convert a buggy(like the lightning) to run well on the road? and what would i do to accomplish this?

You can get some Proline Roadrage Tires. These will help you get good grip on the raod.

there not alot you can do other than run road tyres hard springs and shock oils, and set you car up low, still will not really be competetive with road cars

You will have to do the searching, but I have heard from people that folks do take 1/8th off-road buggies, tweak the setups and such and race them on-road. Surely someplace out there has the info you need, but I can't tell you where cause I've never been interested in that.

I had the chance to run my MP7.5 on a onroad track in August on holiday.

Basically they go bloody fast!
I was running an old set of kit Kyosho mini spike tyres which wore to slicks after 3 tanks. As slicks they have not grip & probably are the wrong rubber type. The biggest problem was my engine was over revving & would sieze after 2 mins (a RB WS7 II) not good for the engine. I richened by a turn & 1/2 to try to cure the problem & got to the point where if I came of the gas a bit on the long straights it would keep running. Good fun.

Anyway for next year (or sooner if I can find a track) I plan to make the following mods:-
Slick tyres, either solid rubber slicks, or foam inserts slicks.

Clutch bell, on road tyres are smaller diameter. This has the effect of increasing the cars gear ratio which is the opposite of what you want!
I worked out that a 15T clutch bell gives the same ratio as a 13T on off road tyres. Plus you want the car to go faster, so look at something around 17T (this would depend on the size of track). If you go for solid tyres, they do not balloon at all, where as foam filled ones will. This helps to lower the gear ratio.

Other than that run as low ride height as you can & set your wing to its lowest angle!

Tim.

Power Racing has both foam and solid rubber tires for 1/8th buggys and I run my buggy on the street about 1/3 of the time. I have set of Road Rage tires and I can't recommend them. Too soft. Mine just roll over on hard turns. I have a set of foams, but they need very smooth surfaces to be effective.

But becareful out there! The things you can run into in a parking lot are a lot harder than the things you can hit out at the track or bashing in the dirt. I ran my buggy into the tire of my car at less than half throttle and ended up bending the chasis and breaking most of the front suspension parts.

Except that roller on the side of the track full of water. LOL!!!!!!!

Feel you on the car tire though. I ran my Nitro Rush into one once. Not pretty at all.
