eddy email me if you have time. For all that is checking on this post I am a system builder for a small mom pops store but Norton is considered to be garbage by the majority of IT admins out there. It's a system hog. You can also try to restore to a previous time when you were not having trouble. If you know any dos commands uuse ipconfig to ping comcast directly.

I've had that happen as well. Something in my router got squirelly and there is a specific sequence I have to cycle things on/off or it won't work. Just shutting things off and turning them on again doesn't fix it. Between the router, the modem and the tower I have to power them up in order. Sounds like you IP might have some info on that for you.

i forget who mentioned it, but i think your best bet first is to conect your computer directly to the cable modem and see if you still have any problems just make sure you have the windows firewall enabled as youll be without the hardware firewall that the router provides ...........out of curiosity is this a wireless router?

I know yesterday they had a server go down here in Wa,i couldn't connect for poop, my woman's sister works for comcast,we called and asked her, then this morning it was fine and has been every since,i dont know if that effects everyone or just the locals, good luck with your problem Ed!!

I'm on comcast with a wireless router and I'm doing through the same thing. Or atleast I was It seems to be fine now.

If you want, run HijackThis and save a log file. Post the log file here and I will take a look at it for you. Do not delete anything yet.

I dumped Comcast several months ago and went for DSL through Bell South. It's the same speed as Comcast cable gave me.
For about a week, my internet has been going off with out warning. The light for internet goes out, and it does not reset itself. I have a switch to kill power to it, then it resets and the internet comes back. I'll have to call them. It's really getting annoying.

THANK YOU!

I too would begin looking into the system registry for Symantec entries, see if they are corrupted. I've had problems with Norton stuff for over 10 years across two platforms, whenever I have unexplicable bizarre anomalies, when all's said and done it's usually Norton at the root of it.

Charter has been having problems recently too. I called, and they told me some stuff about this and that server..BS.. I flagged down the cable troubleshooting guy (guy who finds noise and sinal bleeds/loss) He was working next door.

He told me that AT&T were having some major outages causing a ton of problems for BIG ISP's

Another thing you might want to consider, a New round of self replicating viruses have been released, and if I am getting 5-20 mails a day on each account, and my wife is too.

I am sure the big networks are installing patches and such some of wich may cause downtime?

Also with as much mail as this latest incarnatoin send, the internet is bound to be just plain bogged to hell, especially around 3-9 pm
