I have what I think is a stupid question but hope someone out there can help me. I have a 1:10 Nitro hammer truck (FS Racing, whatever etc...).

I have the engine tuned correctly (idle and Air/Fuel) but when I apply the brake the engine shuts off. If I turn up the idle to correct the problem when the trucks in neutral the tires are spinning and fly’s off when I put it down. If the idle is in the correct position it stalls.

Would this be a clutch issue? Is it not disengaging? Would it be the 2-speed gear clutch or the clutch in the clutch bell?

Help!

If the engine shuts off when you apply the brake, you do not have the idle adjustment screw set correctly. Take off the air cleaner so you can look into the carb throat. Turn the throttle trim knob on your radio all the way down. Hold the trigger in brake position and set the idle till the carb is open 1-2 mm.

You might have to adjust the LSN at that point to balance out the idle.

after what rolex has said, i'd also check your clutch shoe springs mate. They do indeed wear out, and if they don't disengage when you're slowing / stopping, your loss of velocity will directly add alot of inertia to the flywheel.
