do clutches normally have spring loaded shoes so they dont contact when you're at idle? my associated does not and i just bought a clutch and flywheel kit and it didnt have any either. if it doesn't normally come with springs, should i add some? how? thanks

yes all clutch shoes require springs to work properly. Some 2-show setups use a long spring that you connect to itself in a circular fashion (like a rubber band) which gets wrapped around the shoes.

3-shoe setups usually have 3 eperate individual springs (one for each shoe). The purpose of the spring is to keep the shoes closed at the center of the drive shaft. As your RPMs increase they expand and make contact with the bell housing causing car to move.

If you dont have any springs get some.

Actually, the clutch on my RC10GT ran without springs. Comes that way stock. I'm not sure why they are a little different, but they definitely don't come with springs. Seemed to work just fine. The ST would sit at idle just fine without the clutch engaging.

well as long as you have a brake, you can stop the car and the clutch will just slip. i think thats how its going to stay, i dont think there is really room for anything else. anybody got pics??

That's odd that it runs fine without the springs. I would think you would be replacing the shoes more often than normal. Oh well, if it runs and works, so be it.
