Clutch-nut / Flywheel

Just wondering,
How many people use a washer between the clutch-nut and the flywheel?

i'm using 2 washers.

Depends on how much room I have for the E clip on the end of the crank shaft. Most of the time though, I will take up my slack at the face of the bell.

Is it required?

I have room to play.
I just hate to see the nut dig into the flywheel when I tighten it down.
