Hi guys n Gals, I have a query that i am hoping that you can help me with.

I currently run a thunder tiger EB4 S2 with an ofna 13t vented clutch bell. I know that the Associated RC8 clutch bells will fit, but i am unsure if the tooth count i am looking for is available. I am looking for a clutch bell to fit that has a tooth count of either 19 or 20 to suit the gear ratio i'm aiming for of either 2.3:1 (standard 46t main gear) or 2.4:1 (upgrade 48t Main gear). It may sound a little steep, but it's a ratio i am aiming to achieve. if possible i would prefer the 20 tooth clutch bell, but i would settle for a 19t one. I did fit an HPI Firestorm 19t clutch bell, but it was too weak and i sheered 3 teeth from it, so maybe HPI clutch bells will fit ???:\

Any ideas on what clutch bell would suit anyone ??

Any help on this will be deeply appreciated.

I've seen a fair few 20's flying about and the HPI firestorm can run a 19t, I did have one till i stripped some teeth off it !!!!

Yes, but is that firestorm c/b a 1/8 scale clutch bell? The firestorm is a 1:10 scale truck so I would assume it runs a 1:10 scale c/b... that being 32 pitch I believe. 1:8 scale c/b's are not 32P, so the reason you sheared yours may not have been due to strength, but due to a bad gear mesh because the c/b and center diff gear may not have been compatible. I'm not familiar with the Firestorm so that's why I ask.

firestorm wouldn't have a center diff cause the firestorm is 2 wheel drive like the rustler

Explain the clutchbell then ? lol, it worked for quite a time, at least 20 hours before i sheared the teeth. Even then, that was only cos a lump of rock dropped in when i was running hard.

I'm no expert on the firestorm. i know its a 2 wheel drive stadium truck. cause i almost bought one

No offense, but I'm not really sure what that has to do with anything he's asking about. Nobody mentioned anything about a center diff.

...about the clutch bell... 1:10 scale off-road generally use a gear pattern known as 32 pitch. It refers to the geometry of the cut of the teeth. However, 1:8 scale vehicles use a different cut, referred to as 1.0 module. These gears will not work together with any reasonable amount of longevity. That is to say that a 1.0 module spur gear will not mesh up to a 32P clutch bell correctly. It may seem like it fits but after some running something will give and I have a feeling it was your 20T c/b, but I could be wrong. Like I said, I'm not familiar with the Firestorm so it may use 1.0 mod clutch bells but that would definitly be news to me seeing as it's a 1:10 scale stadium truck.

thanx for that on the firestorm c/b lessen. Still looking for a 20t (or nearest available) C/B for this rig of mine. once i finish it i'm hoping to get it radar speed tested, though i'm not sure who to get to do it, short of buying a radar gun for myself and i have a feeling they are not cheep.

I was driving mine ip at my old highschool and to sherriffs pulled in there and I convinced them to radar mine, maybe you can do it that way

you said in your post that "the c/b and center diff may not have been compatable". i said the firestorm didn't have a center diff because you said that. look it's in your 1st post

ok, I follow. I was referring to the center diff in his buggy, not a firestorm, in which the gear would be a 1.0 mod. He had used a firestorm c/b in his 1/8 scale buggy.

oh thats were you lost. me sorry i shouldn't have said anything.

Cheers for that lessen, will check that out, i had heard it somewhere before but discarded as a non match !!!!! guess i really am a dumb schmuck at times :hehe:

BTW, to stop confusion, i managed to remember my password for my ORIGINAL account !!!! and yes, i'm also "Thunder_Tiger_EB4"
