What do yous guys use to clean your RC Cars?
I've heard of people using WD40 so i tried and then went to blow it all off with the air compressor that but it left my car all oily and yuk

what should i use because i hate having a dirty car let alone a oily 1 :(

I take the truck apart, use WD40 on 90% of the truck(watch the electronics, engine and air filter...), let it sit awile. I dry it off with a cloth, leaves the plastics a ''like new'' look. I dont find it leaves the truck that oily. Well it does the job for me. JMO!!

Brake parts cleaner is a good tool, carb safe and leaves NO residue. While I don't recommend just squirting it all over the car, put a good amount on a rag and dive right in - that stuff don't mess around! :)

i Use Either "Gunk" engine cleaner, STP Carb Cleaner, "Flash" floor cleaner or just clean it with a moist rag, toothbrush with a brass suede brush to clean the engine block (outside).

After that, i just lube everything up to stop it going rusty.

I Do use other stuff, but nothing i could or would recommend.

what about degresser... if i was to just spray that all over my car and then blow it with compressed air... would it wreck anything?

If you failed to remove the electrics, it COULD get into the servo's, i did that once, never again. I ended up destroying my servo's. A £70 mistake that i have not made since.

The "Gunk" that i use is a spray degreaser, a good one, but you have to wash it off.

I usually use this AFTER i have removerd all the electrics (servo's & Servo tray plus receiver box complete, it saves disconnecting one from the other) and have removed the air filter and plugged up the carb air intake. Just a case of spraying it on, leaving it to soak for 10 minutes and washing it off under the shower. Then its just a case of drying it off and re-lubing everything.

any idea were i can get this "gunk" from online
remembering that i live in Australia

I just wipe off the thick stuff and brush off the rest. Use some q-tips to get into tight spots and make sure moving parts are clean and lubed. I'm not too much of a stickler about cleaning, but I don't let any of my vehicles sit around filthy. Have to be clean enough to bring in the house!

Here you go, heres a "Quick" search that i did for you

GUNK Engine Degreasant Search

Metalhead, for mine to be in the house, they have to be as if they are "Factory Fresh" kinda clean, and that's NOT my missus saying it, thats the way I have MADE it, nothing makes me madder than to see something filthy in a clean home. Nothing drives me crazier than a dirty rig.

If it's covered in wet grass, mud or both, its straight into the bathroom on newspaper. When its dried off a bit, off come the electrics and its "Gunk" time !!!

well depends,
if I'm doing a quick clean, ill spray it down with windex and blow it off agian with an air compressor.
if i have time, ill spray it down with water, scrub it with my girl friends tooth brush, and rinse it off.
if i take it apart i use gum-out carb cleaner spray, you can buy it at any automotive store (auto zone, checker...)

Windex, i keep hearing the name windex, what IS that stuff ????? some form of window cleaner in an atomiser bottle or something ??

Oh, ok, cheers pill. I just took a wild stab and used a bit of common sense. Guess it paid off this time.

I heard it mentioned that that stuff is good to put on spots and it gets rid of em fast apparently, can't think where i heard it tho...............must have been a TV program or something.

thunder thats a random comment about the spots hahaha!!! i think i need to clean my cars lol its just effort lol but gota be dun! i could do with an air compressor lol sounds a popular choice!

I've heard Simple Green works pretty good too, although I have yet to use, But I'm gonna try it one day.:D & I'm with Metalhead Matt, I just pretty much wipe off the most of what I can with a rag and then I use Q-tips to get in all the tight spaces.;) BTW, :goodpost: Metalhead Matt !

Do you take off ur electrics when you use windex or is it fairly safe with em on still

In my case, electrics off without fail every time. battery, battery box, servo tray. all mine come off. then it's down to cleaning time.

If you knew the hidden dangers of compressors, you would think twice about that comment.

I used to work with them, so i know the dangers. That is also the reason i will NOT have a compressor within 100 feet of anywhere i live, let alone within 3 feet of me !
