Cleaning Chemical Alternatives?

thats good stuff, we use it at work and I've smuggled some home for the R/C's. i havent found anything that cleans so well with no residue. the best part is, it can only do good things to your electronics.

Rubbing alcohol is a very poor cleaner. Due to the checmical makeup it doesn't have the oil penetrating power of denatured alcohol.

The rechargeable spray pumps dont come anywhere near the same "blasting power" of say a can of Nitro-Clean. Not only is it the chemical that cleans but also the force with which it comes out of the can to help BLOW the grime away.

You should always oil all joints and parts that rub after cleaning. Then put a few drops of AfterRun oil in the engine to make sure if there is no moisture in the engine.

I Use a little dab or 3-in-1 Oil.

WD-40 works well but also try the Duralube spray from the automotive store. Works just as well, a little more expensive but doesn't really attract the dirt to stick to it like wd-40.

I use a needle dropper bottle to put a drop of 3-in-1 on them. Normally, a drop on the bearings and pivot balls only. The rest of the vehicle should run dry anyway.

if I'm at the track ill blast it with some Nitro Cleaner usually use associated or dynamite cleaner and blow it off with com pressed air. Once i get home i use grease cutting citrus foam cleaner let it sit for about a minute and blast it off with the garden hose. Looks real nice after that then ill usually hit it quick qith some WD-40 when it drys.

Brake cleaner eats plastic. It destroys lexan.

Just an FYI.

If I were you I would switch to a different brand of brake cleaner.

The stuff I am using is mainly isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and is harmless to plastics.

Here is a pic of the rechargeable aerosol spray can I was talking about it has a good amount of force when you spray. It is about the same as nitro blast.

where could i pick up one of them nifty things? Do you just pour whatever liwuid in the top? Can you recharge it with a scuba tank?

I got mine at Harbor Freight Tools. Yes, all you do is open the top and pour it in. I think you would be able to use a scuba tank it says air from any source, just connect to an airline,foot pump or cycle pump and pressurize to 50PSI. Auto control maximum pressure to 90PSI. It also says that the aluminum spray can is designed to withstand 250PSI.

I use the Harbor Freight can as well. I have had it for over a year and it still works great.

Did you know:
You can use the spray nozzle from most other aerosol cans....
I like using the ones from my WD-40 with a tube on it. DA is my chemical of choice.

I have a second rechargeable can that I use in the garden. I spray my DDT with it. Its much safer for the environment than using aerosol cans.

I use anything that has orange in it, like orage fantastic or orange 409 those work great for me
