I have cleaned my car before many times, but every time i here about someone wanting to learn or a new way to try to clean there car everyone answer "make sure you take out the electronics"......

so my Question I take out the electronics but How aboute the Motor?

i always do but just wanted to make sure i have too and not wasting my time doing it.

THe way I clean the engine is out of the RC.I remove the clutch assembly to clean it well. Then I remove the air filter and cover it tight with a rubber cap. I also remove the exhaust and plug the gasket with another rubber cap. From there I spray it with denatured alcohol. You may need a stiff toothbrush to get the caked on dirt. I use a long bristle medium to hard paint brush an spray the cooling head to get down in between the grooves. From there I spray it down with an air compressor or you can use a can of compressed air. Let it dry and then move to the clutch. Remove the clutchbell bearing and check for wear. Replace as needed.Wipe down the clutchbell and check for grooves especially if you use aluminum shoes. Replac e the bell if you do see a groove in the bell. Replace the bell if the teeth are worn.

Hmm did I miss anything?

well jon2 i thank you greatly for your time and effort into writing this i did learn something...... but my questione was ( i guess i wasn't acuurate enough in explaining it ) was if i have to take the motor out when cleaning my ride or can i leave it on.

If your engine is crusted and cakey with dirt like MonkeyWrench's @ss, it would be a good idea to take the engine off and give it a good cleaning. You should be removing your engine anyway to check for wear on your clutch/bearings/shoes etc after a good day's run, so while it's out might as well give it a spit shine.

You definitely can leave it in. It may be a little harder to do that way but it is fine. I clean as much as I can after running it so there is not too much crap built up. If you leave it on the chassis I would just spray the crankcase and head and let it drip dry if you don't have portable air then turn it up side down. I just like to remove the air filter and cap it. That way the foams don't absorb the crap.
