i like to use a paint brush first to get all the loose stuff then a harder bristled tooth brush maybe a little wd 40 but not much because it cause more dirt to stick. I like to clean my trucks like this because you can notice if any part is loose broken etc.
 
take off your electronics and batterys remove air filter and cover with plastic and a zip tie then pressure wash it down with some purple power or some kinda good cleaner then use a air compressor and blow it all dry spend alot of time drying it, then pull you glowplug out and drop in some after run oil then do same in carb spin it over about 10 seconds then oil again and spin over 10 more seconds,, store, rinse, repeat
