sometimes you would have to contact hypertech with theirs, and they will send you a reset code.

Yes sir, i tried that. Ended up having to pay something like 130 to have it unlocked again. However, the thread starter is right, as long as the other guy returns it to stock, it SHOULD work.

It really sucks when the one thing you know about something turns out to be wrong. I have used 3 separate programmers on my last 3 vehicles and as long as the vehicle is returned to stock, the tuner can be used on any supported vehicle.

Read it again. I said "some". Sorry for trying to look out for you. Hope it works, let us know how it goes.

just talked to him on the phone. he got it tuned bout 20 min ago. he's on his way home...... so I'm sure he will post something in the next couple hours.

That is awesome right there. I am glad he did not have to go through teh b/s I went through. 50 bucks for a tuner is down right a steal.

yep, the guy was asking 60 and i was going to see if he would take 50 but after talking to him on the phone he was cool as heck and since 60 is a steal anyway, i didn't mind paying it.
I loaded the 87 tune since thats all i run in the truck and hit the road. There was a mild performance increase and the tranny shifted a tad firmer. Overall a very mild change which i was somewhat expecting. I pulled over under an overpass and maxed out my shifting firmness (25% over stock) and then hit the road again. Naturally i had to wot it to merge back on the interstate and now it was VERY noticeable. It's not a hard slam into gear its just a quick firm shift. Its most noticeable when you go to pass someone. I am going to raise my shift points another 5mph and it should be perfect. I actually went from 12 to 14mpg this tank on top of that. It was mostly interstate cruising at 75 but i pass alot and i hammered on it quite a bit. Overall it was well worth the $60.

ok wow, tuners have come a long way since 2004 :)

They are loads of options for adjusting the tune itself. In addition to adjusting the shifting firmness, you can also adjust the quickness. I think this is one of the major players in why the truck was so sluggish. The shifts were drawn out and eased into. Now it is a fast firm (not violent tho) shift. The shift point raise also made a huge difference and the truck is running excellent now. I also raised my idle rpm up to 1000 and that made a world of difference in the takeoff. Before it idled around 500 and punching it resulted in a laboring build up to the powerband before you started really moving. Now i am that much closer to the powerband and it made a big difference in the takeoff from a stand still. Now instead of having to get on it hard to get up to speed i can give it about half the throttle and get to speed at about the same time.

I had no idea they were including this many options in tuners these days.

Now if only i can get the castle link to connect to the OBD.....

had to lower my idle to about 800. It was chomping at the bit at red lights.

Raised my wot shift point to 5500rpm instead of 5200.
kicked up my 1-2 shift to 40mph.

running like a champ.

They should sell straight up tranny tuners. It makes all the difference.
