ok my brother just got a free duratrax evader stadium st and it came with 2 battery packs and duratrax piranah charger (seen here: a http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSF53&P=7). well the batteries are junk. the one only holds a charge for 30 seconds and the other last like 10 which is good but its a 1500 mah and is Extremely slow.
well my brother is on strike rite now so he can't afford to spend much on batteries so what are good budget batteries? i was looking at these are these good? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...Category=34061&_trkparms=algo=LVI&its=I&otn=2 i think he doesn't want to spend over 35. thanks

I would avoid nicds. Check allbattery.com for 7.2 volt nimh packs in the 3000+ range. Shoot for Tenergy or intellect cells.

Theres a method to rejuvenate weak rechargeable batteries and it even works on laptop batteries also.........I just stick the totally discharged batteries in a glad freezer bag and pop them in the freezer for 2-3 days;-1 day is fine in most cases, let thaw out good and give them a charge. Most of the time they last longer;-if not I discharge them again and refreeze them...

You sure you can run a 7 cell?

May want to stick with 6:

A buddy of mine bought a 24 pack of tenergy AA's and they seemed to hold a charge as long/good as the duracell AA's I used in my transmitter.

Can't really vouch for these, but there's 2 of them shipped for $30:

no I'm not sure if i can run 7. ok shopping around and i found these http://www.all-battery.com/tenergyp...ratenimhbatterypackswithtamiyaconnectors.aspx and googled some coupon codes for all-battery.com and got free shipping on them so we bought those. will those make the car go faster? we are running a 1500 map POS battery that last like 7 minuts.

I'm sure it can't hurt. Although, your charger is older and only charges nicad. Which means, it could overcharge a NiMH pack. Although, it's not a peak charger, but rather a timer charger. It appears by towers description, that it runs at 2.5 amps. Which means, 2500mah per hour of charge.

Since your new packs are 4200Mah and the charger charges at 2.5A, it's going to take roughly 1 hour and 45 minutes to charge.

You should really invest in a peak charger.

I have these, or ones really close to it:
MRC SuperBrain 960 (I have the 959)
Duratrax Pirahna $49.99
Dynamite Prophet Plus $39.99

Out of the 3, the MRC does the best at peaking my receiver packs. The dynamite one only has three settings for charge rate and the lowest is 1A. Which IMO is too high for receiver hump packs. It works though. I bought it new. The other two I got used off of forums.

awww crap are you cerious. shoot

Yes... you can still use your current charger, although it isn't recommended. You will need to keep an eye on the packs temp to avoid over charging. But it will take quite a while to charge a pack with it. I'm guessing the dial on yours is 15 minutes. Which means, you will need to run through the 15 minutes 7 times to charge the new packs.

Even a newer charger that charges at a higher current than 2.5 will still take a while. A 4A charger still will take a little over an hour to charge a 4200mah pack. Charging it that hard would reduce cycles for the batteries life though as well I think.

ok well rite now I'm going to do some shopping around for chargers. and within a half hr ill probably order one but ill post here before i do it. if you see one thats cheap and good let me know, thanks olds.

would either of these work?http://www.all-battery.com/TenergySmartHybirdBatteryCharger01014.aspx

i have a free shipping code to this website so id rather use this website if they are good chargers.

does anyone know if the charger in this combo will work because that would be great because i need more batteries also. [ame]http://www.amazon.com/3800mAh-Power-Batteries-7-2V-12V-Charger/dp/B001BKPAR6[/ame]

The first one is more flexible than the second. Max charge current is 3A, so it shouldn't hurt your packs. It will take about 1 hour and 20 minutes to charge a 4200Mah pack.

I run some Tenergy AAA cells in my radios...and I have a few 6 cell 3800 packs from them. Been running them for a good 4 months or so now. No sign of dying as of yet. 3800 will run my Spec Slash for a good 25 min as well.

o thanks i hope i have the same results.

Your link isn't any good. When I go to edit your post, then I see the actual link. I think it's how amazon structures their links and it's messing up the url when the forum saves it.

thats strange. i tryed to fix it but o well.
