As some of you might know i have a NTC3 rtr, and I want a new mill for it, but i have not figured out how i would go about making my throttle servo work with the slide carb. i have looked for the kit, and i have checked out hundreds of pictures and i see a little "L" elbow that people have on theirs. I have look for this little elbow, but nothing. Help if you can!

there is a pic in my galler of the slide carb, but i cannot quite figure it out.

Zoomer - if you look at the instructions that come with the kit - it will give you full details on how to install the linkage for a slide carb. No modifications are needed, all you do is move the linkage to a different part of the servo horn. When i first built my team kit, i installed a rotary carb OPS. I just recently installed a new OS CV-R and i ordered it with the new 10A slide carb. It was very simple and only took about 5 minutes. Here are some importatnt things to know though:

1. You can ONLY use a slide carb, if your radio has end point adjustments. Does it?

2. You have to twist the carb about 35degrees, as shown in that picture, otherwise the linkage binds.

3. Do IT!! I noticed a HUGE difference in off-the-line acceleration, when i switched. i didnt think it would make that much difference, but it did.

lemmi know if u have any other questions, as i just did this about 2 weeks ago.

well you see i have the NTC3 RTR, so i dont know if i will be able to do it. I still have my bag of servo stuff that came with the car, but i dont know. and i have no idea  about the end point adjustments............ :help:

these here are the parts i have , i just berly now opened the package....

zoomer - u have to do NO modifications to use the slide carb setup, all u do is move some things around. it explains this in your instructions. u got the building instructions with yours, even though its an RTR, right? if not, i can always scan mine, and post it. The stock RTR radio does NOT have end point adjustments, so if u plan on doing this, that is a must. the reason for this, is that on a slide carb, the servo only needs to move about a 1/16th as much as it does on a rotary, and if u have no end points, u will rip the slide right out of the carb when u hit full throttle.

well i guess it is time to buy myself a FM Radio w/ different servos!!!!!.... I just got my Aluminum shocktowers in today, so i am going to install those, i am looking for 2 aluminum diff. cases. but that is all intime....

Nice, while you're at it, get alum servo horns for those hi torque/speed servos if you get some. I did the same for the 3PDF & Hitec/Hobbico servos setup.

How do I know what kind of servos to get??? How do i know if they are high torque servos, and how do i know if they have that stopping point?????? I have never messed with radios so i have no idea....... This is where i need major help!!!!!

is this the setup???

http://www.towerhobbies.com/products/futaba/futj30.html

and since it says 3 model memory does that mean i can have 3 cars controlled by it on diff channels???? w/ diff freq.???

zoomer - the servo stopping points are controlled by the transmitter, not the servos. just make sure the transmitter has end point adjustments (EPA) that isnt a bad radio, but i wouldnt recommend it, give me a price u want to spend for a new tx, and servos, and i will find u a good one today. on the tower website, u can read all about each servo, and its ratings. my favorite steering servo for the NTC3 is the hitec 625MGBB it has 3 times the torque a standard servo has, is twice as fast, is metal geared, ball bearing insides, and costs only 40.00

well let me know what you find for about $150 - $200 and try and find something that so once i get my 1/8th buggy I can just change out the reciever and use the same radio. If possible

if i can afford it sure go with it!, but if it just costs too much, then nahhh..... That would be good not having to buy crystals......

Zoomer - Here are the 3 radios I would recommend in order of my preference.

HITEC LYNX 3D FM
hrcj23.jpg

This is the radio i use. I love it. It comes with every feature under the sun, including 10model memory, abs brakes, expo, EPA, and even speed sensitive steering. Plus the screen is huge, and easy to see. The other big selling point for me was that it came with TX nicads and a charger. Thats a 50.00 value.

TOTAL COST w/ 1 std servo & 1 hi torque: $225.00

AIRTRONICS M8 FM

This radio has the same features as the one above, but is a lil more money. This was my second choice when i got my hitec.

TOTAL COST w/1 std servo & 1 hi torque: $243.00

AIRTRONICS MX3 FM
airj25.jpg

This radio is much less expensive than the 1st two. But I know several people who have it and love it. It comes with all the major features you would need for high level bashing, but is missing a few important things for full blown racing.

TOTAL COST w/1 std servo & 1 hi torque: $145.00

===================================
If you noticed, i didnt mention the JR radios, and this is because i personally dont like them. If you like it, go with it. Alot of people here are happy with the XS3.

thanx for the input, the 1st one looks good, but i have a question, how would i go about using the same transmitter on different cars????? That is my concerne. I dont want to have to fork over that much money each time! Are they all Synth?

they all have multiple model memory - and NONE are synth. the price skyrockets with synth radio's - and although they are nice, i dont think its that big of a deal.

As with any radio that has model memory - to use it for more than 1 car, u need multiple receivers. then - u just switch from model 1, to 2 and so on, on the TX.

depends - which radio did u decide on? the 3D FM, like the one i have? do u have more than 1 car right now - or are u planning ahead?
