Hello guys,

I just spent about $300 on my Futaba 3pk and have disconnected the battery and want to take it as hand luggage along with all the bits n' pieces that are my MP777. Think there'll be any problems with airport security (heathrow)?

Also taking: servos, silencer and engine. The 6v Rx battery and 9.6v Tx battery are in the futaba box disconnected.

Maybe I should just send the 3pk box as checked luggage and carry the rest as hand luggage?

Thanks, Mike

...but wouldn't security complain saying it is 'dangerous' ? ...

heck they even get me to turn off my ipod during takeoff...sheesh?

but the batteries in your check in luggage....see if they offer a secure carry on spot that the stewardess locks during flight or just pack it in the middle of everything in your luggage......I know I'd be a little concerned w/ what the luggage monkeys do w/ my $325 electronic toy.....

I think you should be ok as long as your don't turn it on... It may interfere with the signals on the airplane. I would bring it with me. (or pack it really tight in the 777 box so it doesn't flay all over the place)

Thanks guys, I'll think of something hehe :)

Atm I've removed the Tx and repacked my rusack (carry on) and it is packed better now.

I'll remove the bats and just take the Tx as well ...:)

Where are you planning to fly to with your Tx? I assume that it operates on the 40MHz FM band. Check that this band is allowed for R/C use in the country that you are flying to.

Out of curiosity, what band does Switzerland allow for R/C use?

From what I can gather, Europe uses the same 40 MHz bands as the UK for R/C surface models.

I would suggest that you get in touch with Stan Crompton at Nitro Models in the UK. Stan regularly travels to Europe to support his son David in the European 1/8 off-road championships and will be able to advise you on what radio equipment to use in Switzerland and what paperwork you need in order to take this kind of equipment in and out of the country without causing a terrorist alert.
