hey- it might sound funny but i still have no idea what sway bars are, and wht they do?>????

please help :hammer:

Sway bars are thin metal rods that help keep traction to the two tires it is mounted near to. They can be helpful on onroad racing but on MT's they tend to do more harm then good.

I will try to dig up a link for you

I'm not sure how they work yet so ill be interested to see the replys
but a sway bar stops the chassis from "rolling" meaning when you go into say a right turn the chassis wants to "roll" or tilt to the left putting more of the weight on that side sway bar stops that and keeps the car flat

Sway bars are bars that mount between the two front or two rear suspension arms. Usually they are of relatively strong metal. They are "U" shaped with each end of the "U" mounted to each arm. The middle of the "U" is secured to the chassis. If you can envision that, then you will see that if both arms are moving up and down at the same time and same speed, the swaybar doesn't really have any effect. But if one arm tries to move without the other, the stiffness of the swaybar will limit the action on that arm. One big thing it does is limit chassis roll. Helps keep the weight transfer to a minimum. Essentially you'll get much better cornering.

oh i understand now, cool thanks i had no idea what they were

Also with tc if you put a sway bar on the front, it will give more rear traction and vice versa. Before i had a sway bar, if i pressed the front corner of the car down the rear tire diagonal from it would actually come off the ground. Putting on a front sway bar eliminated this. generally you don't use them for offroad.

just like in a real car, it allows the suspension to also stay flatter in a turn or on or off power turning or steering.
