Can you drive buggys like Monster Trucks

Hi, can you drive buggy's like monster trucks. I mean dirt, grass, stones, jumps without breaking them.

I am a beginner and am lookgin for a kit that wont be easy to break and is reliable fast and fun.

I dont intend to spend more than about $350.

What do you guys think. I have been looking into the savage ss but I don;t know if it is suitable for a beginner. What do you guys think?

What do you recommend, mainy for mucking around in the back yard, and an easy to build kit as well as being able to go over some quite big jumps safely.

Thanks
Josh

Hey, go with the savage. Savage it is $399.00 from towerhobbies.com but anything over $150.00 you get $15.00 off. Ths savage is RTR. I think its perfect for what you want to do. Just remember just because it is a truck dosent mean it wont break. Because it will.....

the clearence on a buggy is lower becuase it is meant for racing. It can go offroad it just will get hung up on stuff sometimes but usually you have enough speed/power to make it over obstacles. The reason the buggy has a lower cg or center of gravity is so it can turn quicker and be more nimble than a MT. Trade off with the MT and having a higher ride height is it likes to flip on tight turns.

I definnately want a kit, but do you recommend an MT. Can you really jump those buggies like in those videos on this forum without breaking them. In the videos they flip in the air and flip like 10 times on the ground and they carry on going?

What is better for that sort of driving a?nyway

A buggy can take a lot of abuse and still go on running. To get a buggy you are goeing to spend at least $500.00 for a cheaper one.

MY storm keeps up with my RS4Drifter's Savage 25 and my dad T-Maxx no problem. The only real main diffrence is I'll get stuck easier because a buggy is easy to to be braced ont he chassis and have all wheels off the ground. Really high grass, like around 1 foot makes it a lil harder for me to keep up with them. Buggies hit the ground alot harder because of the clearnace but they still will keep up or usually beat Mts. AS I've said MTs are for bashing HARDCORE and buggies are made for speed and handling.

I've been known to drive my 1/8 buggys more like r/c airplanes at times...

i had a HPI Nitro MT, but i didnt really like it, wasn't high enough off the ground for good off roading capabilities like the t-maxx. i sold it in less then a month and made some cash off it. :)

You can't go wrong with either,,but just so you have a heads up. you will be spending more than $350 nomatter what you get .parts do break .and you will find that there will be a number of asserories you will end up wanting and needing right from the start .

It all depends on where you have to drive it. If you have a lot of hard packed dirt, go with a buggy for durability. If you have mostly parks and grass to play in, get an MT.

My first was a stadium truck. Granted, it's nowhere near as durable as a buggy, but the clearance is about the same. It doesn't like grass much unless it's cut awfuly short. Otherwise it is constantly dragging and has a tendency to overheat often.

I have since bought a maxx and converted it to a 21. Sad to say, my ST rarely sees the light of day anymore.

All I have to drive in are parks, skate parks and drainage ditches. I did have a construction site for awhile which is where I drove my ST. As most things of that nature, it's gone now.
