Hello,
I've just recieved my new engine from hpi (nitrostar 4.1) it has a rotostart plate on the back plate, i bought the shaft for it but no rotostart, i was wondering if i could use a drill and what direction and how fast should the drill be spinning ??

another question, do u think rotostart is better or pull start is better for the life of the engine and if i put the pull start back from my old nitrostar .21bb hpi motor, do u think the one way bearing and pull start would fit??

thanks!!!:D

best way is to get in there and experiment on it mate, they are simple motors lol and try it with a pull start heh

A drill works good, use it in reverse/counter clockwise at regular drill speed. I use an 18v dewalt. Works great. I have melted a roto-start housing from spinning it for too long though, but as long as your engine is tuned fairly decently, it shouldn't be a problem.
I don't think it makes much difference on engine life what you use. Can't help on the OWB and mounting dimensions.
