I am looking to build an RS4 18ss to park next to Savage SS. I mainly want to parking lot race a few of my friends but I would also like to occasionally compete on a real track. I am aware that most touring classes require a .12-sized engine and the .18 engine in the RS4 18ss is considered an “outlaw” motor. Will I be able to compete on a track with this “outlaw” motor?

I have already decided on an RS4 for numerous reasons so please no comments about buying another vehicle (like a TC3). My question is about occasionally competing with an .18 sized outlaw motor.

It depends on your tracks rules. Most follow ROAR rules, which means your engine will be too big. If your track doesn't have an outlaw class, maybe you and your friends could start one.

as ac48 stated ,the 18ss isnt roar legal but if they have a outlaw class then your hooked up,
it is just like the duratrax evaders ,they are no roar legal either with the .18's in them ,
if you wanna race every now and them ,,i would looking to a OS .12 and stick a stage 2 head on it ,,then you will be within there limits and decent power to compete ,
and they are very reasonbly cheap too ,,
just my :2cents:

All the above info is correct.
At the club racing level, as long as the engine stays running for the entire race, its usually not the deciding factor for whos going to win.
