can anodized coating be removed? If so, how?

Someone at HPI thought that purple would be a cool color for thier cars... horrible, IMO. Is there any way to remove the coating? maybe by soaking it in some chemicals? Silver wouldn't be too bad once the coating is removed.

easy off oven cleaner .... be carefull how long you leave it on or it will start to pit the aluminum ... and rinse well ...

Yep, easy off works great, but make sure you get the original easy off. As Wyatt mentioned, don't leave it on too long or it will pit the aluminum. Spray it on, let it stand for a few minutes, then rinse it well. It may take several times to get it all off

Thats pretty handy because at tower some aluminum parts are more than others because of the anodized color. Now i can get the cheeper purple parts and just remove the anodizing on it. kool

easy off is the best for this job. i did my HPI rs4 chassis in one time. the scotch brite pad works nice with this stuff

Andy,

Easy-Off is just a hardcore oven cleaner. You might check at the store for oven cleaners and get the one that has the most warnings attached to it. That one most likely eats anything and can remove anodizing.

Other than that, perhaps a buddy over here can ship a can to you.

We were talking about this at the LHS last week, and Draino crystals were mentioned. You add what you want to water....a weaker solution will not pit into the aluminum as quickly...and when you're done, you pour it down the drain.

I just sandblast my stuff with "fine grit" silica media. I know, not everyone has access to one, but that's what I do.
