Cactus gets wood

An agave "century plant" cactus in my yard has sprouted this huge flower stalk. I am 6' so I guess it is around 24 -25 feet high. Its even taller now since the pic was taken, but the plant is starting to die. It shoots its load growing the stalk and dies from exhaustion. Thas why I'm afraid to take viagra.

That is the one that actually sprouts that thing every 10 years? Wow my old neighbor had those and he told me they just sprout that big ass assparugus looking spear up in the air every 10 years to catch pollen, teach me to listen to old people! I do know a century is not a decade but they are supposedly mis-named as they take a bit to flower but no hundred freakin years.

I didn't know until recently - I searched the net for "century plant" and found out they only do it once, then die. It takes 25 years on average for them to blow their wad. There are some kinds that do it occasionally and survive, but mine is the one shot kind. So now I have to get rid of it when its dead.
