You're going to have cut the hole for the pipe bigger once you lower the body more on the posts.

I prefer to cut and shape the body after I paint it all up. I then peel the outside protection off, cut my holes roughly with the scissors, and dremel the final touches. To make inside shapes, I use the reamer to make a large enough hole to get the dremel tool in, then fire away with the dremel, making the opening larger and shaped to the needed size.

Boy, that green is bright!!!

I tried that last body and I didnt care for trying to line everything up without seeing it. I made the exhaust hole larger so its not rubbing when it sits there - its about twice the diameter of the stinger now. After doing it this way, I prefer cutting before painting, so I can get it like I want, dremel everything smooth and see how its all going to line up - then wash it - tape off the holes and paint. I'm very happy with this process now, and I will continue to do so on my future bodies.

Some guys cut before they paint and some cut after. I like to cut and mount before I paint. Easier to line stuff up when it is clear and less chance of scratching the paint. I don't think you will need to back with 2 cans of white, that is a lot of paint and the white is an opaque color. One white followed by one black would be more than enough. If you want to add a metallic look skip the white and use indy silver instead.

all I have is white and black - I was going to do 2 white just to make sure the green stayed nice and bright - if you think 1 white will suffice - I'll giv eit a try

Like I said - I'm still elarning this paint thing - so if it dont work - its another learning experience LOL

CS, forgive me for jumping in like this, but I too noticed your body seems to sit very high. When I looked at the pic of the clear body on the chassis, I noticed there seems to be a couple mold lines where I've pointed out:

To my eye, it looks like these lines connect straight across. I think that's actually the bottom of the car. And although I can't see the front, there may be a line at that height around the front which I think is where the body should be trimmed. This will really allow you to slam that body right down on the deck where it should be.

I used Pactra Sprint White for the racing stripes on my Gen II Viper GTS. I also backed the body with it because the stripes were the last step in my paint job:

The White paint is very thick and I do not think that you will need two cans if you apply it properly. Indy silver is very flakey and it works well as a backing. It tends to make transparent base coats look more metallic. It is a great look. I have used Indy Silver as a backing for Metallic Blue, Candy Purple, and Daytona Yellow

Candyman - the body is trimmed in that picture to where it should. The reason it is sitting so high is that I had the large spring spacer in place to keep the car as high as it can go while I worked on it (got sick of scratching the hell out of my desk while I worked, and when I took photos I didnt want to scratch the dinning room table) The following pics should look much better.

I ran 3 tanks if idle break in last night - going to start the tuning process tonight can't wait to see this thing roll!

I bought the Futaba 3PM-TFS 3-Channel FM/1 S3305 Servo and an S3003 for the throttle/brake. The 3PM-TFS rocks

Three tanks is not much fuel. You can start to drive at low speeds but it might be wise to run more fuel before starting to gas it hard.

I doubled checked my needles before I started it for the first time. I ran at low speeds with the factory needle settings for nearly 3/4 a quart. The factory setting were super rich even with the high flow air filter. It would not rev nearly high enough to pull second with the factory rich settings. It took off like a rocket when I started to lean it out. I am still running it on the rich side and it has plenty of power. It will run faster if I lean it even more but the temps will climb. Tune it to suit your track.

still running rich, and MAN THIS THING FLIES!!!

it gets squirley when it shifts from 1st to 2nd LOL
