I am buy the pullstart Nitro TC3 I'm just a little confused ont which pull start engine to buy. Its mostly for bashing and I'm gonna go and start some racing. So i basically need an engine for bashing and racing. All suggestions welcome

So far my list is
TC3 kit- $260
MX-3 Radio w/ 2 servos- $115
Engine- $160-$200

I might get teh non pullstart so if u can give me a good engine for both. One for the pullstart and one for the non

Well, if you're going to race, most tracks have a cap of .12 . When I first started with my ntc3, I got an OS .12 CV-RX. It's a real screamer with over 1 hp. I liked it but then realized that I wasn't going to race so I converted over to an OS .15 CV-R (nonpull) and I'm having a real good time with it. Both the .12 and .15 CV-R series are great engines for the ntc3.

One thing is for sure, upgrade to the 3 shoe slutch. I just did it and I am real happy with the way it hooks up and also pulls in the higher revs.

oh ok then. ur in elmhurst NYC?? maybe we can get together. my dad live in manhatten.

I have just joined a club that has a permit to race in cunningham park on Sunday's. I am going to check them out this sunday, weather permitting. If all checks out, I'd be glad to bash with ya. Not a problem at all. Oh yeah, I'm in Elmhurst, Queens.

How old you are has no place in R/C !! We're all created equal. It's just the love of the hobby.

lol i have no prob with age i was just wondering. Cause i have like a 40 year old uncle that has r/cs and is UNBELIEVABLE wen it comes to tuning engines. lol i dont kno why he doesn't race but he can get almot any engine to haul a$$.

drkman07, to be perfectly honest, you might want to consider just getting the non-pullstart kit and getting a starter box. The problem the ntc3 has with having a pullstart is the actual location of the pullstart. Because it sits in the center of the chassis, you'll have a devil of a time getting to the pullstart with the body on. You have two choices, remove the body, and start it, or stick your hand through a cooling hole and getting the pullstart.

Problem I ran into was that when I started the car with the body on, the pullstart string would rub and eventually become frail and break off.

It's much easier to just have a starter box. If you already bought the kit and it's pullstart, you won't need anything to use a starter box, but if you want to have a little better performance, you'll need the non-pullstart engine mounts, and non-pullstart flywheel.

By the laws of physics, you won't have as much "free revving" as you would with a 2 shoe clutch because there'd be more rotating mass. On my ntc3, I am all about top speed, so I never saw a point in getting a 3-shoe.

Only reason why you'd want a 3 shoe is for less clutch slipping when you bring back the power. Personally, I never really experience clutch slipping, my car would rip off the line like no other.

I'm 33 going on 10

As far as the three shoe clutch, I did the upgrade since my shoes were about toasted anyway. I guess that's why I saw the better performance. I dunno, it's up to you. Maybe it's more psychological than anything else. :stick:

but as far as engine wut one shud i get??? i havnt bought the kit yet.

give me a pullstart engine and a non pullstart engine if u can

My experiences are with OS. The .12 CV-RX and .15 CV-R. Both the 12 and 15 of the CV-R series come in pull and nonpull versions. Just make sure you get the short shaft version. You then have to choose rear or side exhaust. I have only used the side exhaust. I can't give you real experiences with the rear exhaust.

I would recomend either one. The .12 screams but the .15 pulls like there's no tomorrow. Make sure they are from the CV-R series. The X just means it's a pull start. As I said, just make sure it's a short shaft. It will have an (s) at the end.

O.S's will be easy to tune. Personally, I prefer sg crankshaft just because the clutchnut is easier to deal with.

If you want something that will give a little more performance but won't be as easy to tune, you might want to look into novarossi's. I had a CX12 a few years ago and it was a screamer, now novarossi has even better engines for the same price.

Also, RB Concept engines are supposed to be pretty good.

picco xp 15......makes my maxx wheelie on command and when i tested it in my xxxnt it spun the rear tires from a standstill like they were on ice BEAUTIFUL

If i get the pullstart version and a pullstart engine wud i be able to put the roto start on it ?

Frank

You will most likely be able to put the rotostart on it IF they make a rotostart back plate for the engine you choose.

what do u guys think of the trinity reflex?? I have heard good things about it. Are there a lot of hobby shops that sell parts for them. And where can i find them online everywhere i've checked they dont stock them. I might buy that so I'm a little different than the rest of my friends and family that have r/cs.

The Trin. Reflex is a top tier full race r/c. Parts avail. depends on where you live...in my area you can find parts just about everywhere. This car is built like a rock so the only thing you will really need is lots of tires and I mean lots! Tires run $20 a pair.

I like the trin. reflex but I am clearly biased as I own two. I have driven other cars but found the Trin. Reflex to be the best car for my driving. The car just handled real well right out of the box. Let me know if you want more specifics.

I don't plan on racing like imediatly. I want to race and stuff but first i want to get used to the car and the handling. This will be my first ONROAD car. I have had a quit a few of off road. Is the car okay for bashing occasionally??
