as some of you know i recently stripped the ring gear on my diffs along with the pinion in the front and back. i did some reading around and it seems that hpis bulletproof diffs are some of the toughest if not the topughest you can put in a savage? Are they worth the money? also i read if i were to send hpi a picture of the stripped diffs they would send me bp diffs for free? true or not.

The strongest diffs you can buy for a savage are made by a guy named bada$$savage on the savage central forums. I beat on mine hard any they were rock solid

I think the CEN diff's in the savage is the toughest setup available that i am aware of. I will check out Bada$$savage and see what he's got.

Imho for $35 each why wouldn't you replace it with something better or spend half of that for the weaker diff and take a chance. It may be less likely shimmed properly but shimming is not a replacement for stronger, better tooled and harder steel

The BP diffs are probably the toughest drop in diffs you will find. With proper shimming, they should outlast most of your truck.

Is yours a X chassis savage (X/XL) or the older style? If it's the older style, you can also get alloy diff cases to remove all flex in the case and get your shimming spot on. That combined with BP would truly be bullet proof.

id be interested in getting some reallly strong doiffs for my savage as well even as spares.. can never have enough spares kicking around

I believe the guy on savage-central was using cen gears. I paid him to ship me two fully assembled bulkheads. gears, bearings, shims, diff cup, the works. I dropped them in and never looked back.
