Budget ESC question

I am on a very very tight budget right now, but I am in need an esc for my scorpion since the one I had died.

I thought about trying one of the Moped V16R escs after reading some good reviews about them, and their very affordable price, but it says it is rated from 10 to 35 turns, and I have a Novak 55 in my scorpion, so I am concerned about it over heating.

It is not a comp rig, just something for me to have fun with, so I don't want to, and can't afford some of the high end escs at the moment, so if you have any suggestion please chime in. Thanks guys.

You've got a PM, but for other people, the moped is a nice ESC for the money, and the Mamba 25 is the BEST esc for the money in a crawler, period. It's fully programmable, can be found for around $30 used, and will handle brushless and LiPo if you decide to go that route later. Also, if you can find a Quark Pro Car 33 ESC, they're fairly budget oriented and the best ESC on the market for outrunner motors, as they almost eliminate the cogging somehow compared to other ESC's.

Assuming the 55 in Novak 55 means turns, there should be no issue with running it with that ESC. Compared to a 35 turn motor, the amp draw is less on a 55 turn. You can run higher than rated turns, just don't go lower than 10 turns.

Smaxxin, so what is your opinion on that esc? Does it ever over heat with the 55 turn motor? How is it for programming? Is there a big delay in to reverse? I am seriously considering getting one since they can be had brand new for around $30 shipped.

Dom, yes the 55 is for 55 turns. Why would they rate it 10-35 turns if it can easily handle higher turn motors?

Because lower turn motors require more power for more speed. So they are rated by the lower turn.

For $30.00 you can't beat it! I have been punishing mine in my wheely king, running in mud and water, on motors ranging from 15t to 55t. It does get hot running the 15t motor but it doesn't even get warm running the 55t although it's very geared down with the 55t motor. It has been under water and quit 6 or 7 times but after getting dried off it still kickin...It's tough!

It does have have a delay going into reverse, I would say one to one and a half seconds.

Programming is very basic and very simple, I think the instructions had less than 30 words LOL.

In forward it's actually pretty darn good, it's capable of slow very controlled throttle, reverse is a little touchy but you will get used to it. Don't get me wrong you can tell that it's not a high dollar esc but as far as lower priced esc's go ($60.00 and under) this one is hard to beat!

When this one goes out I will replace it with another one just like it!
