i bought 10 3x10 mm machined screw button head SS and they dont work in my HPI 15FE . these what hpi recomends 3x10 mm is it b/c its SS or not i dont know i have to go back to lhs tommrow .why dont these work ?
 
arent there different types of threads for screws? i guess you might have gotten the wrong one?

most r/cs use the machined screws(the tightly packed together threaded screws. then there are what u call wood screws that are spaced out more and more of a spiral. correct me if I'm wrong.

yes you right, but i believe there are different types of threads for machine screws...ex 10-32 is different from 10-24

man i pushed the button too early, i believe 10-32 and 10-24 can be the same length and diameter its just the different thread....go to lowes or ace i think youll understand what I'm sayin

o cool it added it to my other post!
 
they are to big i have to screw them into the head making new threads in the head. and the same thing in the case they are just slighty to wide.

First number such as the 10 in 10-32 is the diameter of the threaded part of the screw. The second number such as the 32 is the number of threads per inch.
 
yeah so you could get a 10-28 instead of a 10-32 and itd be the same diameter but not fit?
 
hpi says metric are these metric ? btw these are the racers edge #20711
are these metric 3x10 mm ? i have not went back to lhs yet . going there monday after work.
 
the link that ImBroken gave u is the direct stock replacement screws for ur engine. its only $4.

This is a Screw Set for the HPI Nitro Star .12E, .15FE, and .15 engines.

FEATURES: Black metric screws

INCLUDES: Four 3x6mm round-head machine screws
Four 3x10mm cap-head machine screws

REQUIRES: Nothing. This is a direct replacement part.

well i went to my LHS and they where 2.5 X 10 MM not 3X10 tower hobbies is wrong . any ways i got the right screws now and 4 only cost $1.55
