Last night at the pet store while buying mice and rats I saw a new 18 month old red tail boa for sale. They didn't know how much it was going to run however they said the person that priced them was going to be in today. Anyway, I went in this morning and bought him.

He has mites but I have the mite medicine and a free tank to keep him segregated from my other snakes, beside mites or not he was a steal. My daughter wanted to call him Llego but I decided on the name Diego which my daughter agreed on also. I will post pics later. I am presently getting his tank and rocks ready to kill some mites.

Llego (Spanish, pronounced yey go)

Here's a pic:

Not realy into snakes... but that is a nice looking reptile.... Can we see him eat?? Like a cute little mouse or something?? :hehe:
That is the best part!!!!!

If I had good editing programs I could show a video of one of my others in the strike yesterday but the fils is 25mb and I have nowhere to upload it.

Mites are little microscopic bugs similar to fleas.

On another note, one of my other snakes which has refused to feed in almost a month finally ate tonight. I bought a fairly large tupperware container and put air holes in it. I then put my snake into the tupperware then I put a dead mouse in the tupperware. I figured if the sanke was in there for an hour or two she'd finally get tired of looking at lunch and eat it. It actually only took about 15 minutes for her to start eating. I am now really relieved that I don't have to take a trip to the vet tomorrow.

Hey El, nice snake ya got there... I used to have quite the collection myself... I ended up selling them to a breeder and I picked up some Beardies...
My very first snake, (red Tail boa) was going threw a bad shed, and the Pet Shop jacka$$ told me to put him in a wet pillow case overnight. Well, you can guess what I found the next morning..
I brought his lifeless body to the pet shop the next day, and in front off all his customers made him look like a fool... If I was a bit older at the time, I would of kicked the ever livin crap out of him..... Right now I'm reptileless.... :( I may have to pay the PetShop a visit...:classic:

Next time you have a reptile that is going through a bad shed soak them in the bathtub in water about 80 degrees. You may have to hold them or at least keep your hands in the water to allow them to feel like they are holding something but after about 20 minutes or so let them dry. and generally they can take care of the shed themselves. If they can't time to earn your combat pay and manually help them shed. Some snakes enjoy the owner assisted shedding while others do not.

Hey El, I think I'm going to get a Mali Uromastic for my son. I have a nice dry reptile habitat I made for my Bearded dragons sitting in the shed... Like I said, that was my first snake. I have since researched and owned many snakes. Good luck with your new addition...

My snakes will really not get big enough to crush you but the meddlesome poodles down the street, I'll say no more for fear to incriminate me....
