Just a question. I've read several posts in the various forums that mention boiling plastic parts to help them last longer. Just wondering if you boil them for a set amount of time and how boiling them makes them last longer?

I've never heard of that, but curious how it works.

Thanks!

Here is a quote from the HPI Nitro MT manual:
SUSPENSION ARMS
The Nitro RS4 MT suspension arms have been updated and should prevent most crash damage to make them stronger. We still suggest that all Nitro MT owners boil their suspension arms in water for 10 minutes. This will soften the nylon plastic, allowing the arms to flex in a crash. While this won't prevent damage from the hardest hits, it will let the arms survive most wrecks and crashes. Boiling the parts will not hurt them in any way, and it will greatly reduce the chance of them breaking in a crash.

As far as I know, this only works with nylon plastic.

i wonder if you use a crock pot if you can put them in the morning, and return at night to nice, prepared, and rather tasty suspension arms. Jeez, I crack myself up!

Try a search on this on this forum and youll find alot of helpful pointers on boiling parts and the whats and what not to do's with it. I myself have never done it, or needed to, I've been pretty lucky (Knock on wood)

it's good for guys up north to do if you want to run your RC in the cold temps.....if it's below 50 plastic gets real brittle and snaps.....
