beason and i and the g/f's went down to the museum here in Houston and checked this out. it's pretty cool. they dissect a dead body and preserve it with a liquid plastic. when everything cures you have a body where you can see everything inside. the guy that does it poses them different ways. it's like art and medical school all in one. check it out if it's near you somewhere. here's the site for the exhibit. www.bodyworlds3.com

edit: here's another good link http://www.hmns.org/generic/BodyWorlds_press_room.asp?r=1

so, we're the only people who think this is cool? buncha weirdos. you like skinny kids getting pwned but not dead bodies? me, i'll take a dead body over an ass whuppin any day....

No, I think it's a couple different things:

1. That both you and Beason actually have girlfriends.
2. That both you hilljacks went to a museum!

Geez, I'm more surprised bo those two facts than knowing there are preserved bodies to gawk at!

As to your point, though, I have heard about this. Isn't it some guy from Germany that actually 'plasticizes' these bodies? Supposedly there's one of a pregnant woman, but I don't know that for sure. I'd be interested in seeing the display, though.

Wow...you two at a museum! Blows the mind.

thats preety cool. they take actual dead bodies? the like grave robbers of something? jk

I don't nessesarally think it's nasty...but I definatly wouldn't go to see them in an exibit. Not with all the holocaust pictures I've seen. Well...I just hope our science center doesn't get "creative" and try to take this on. How do they aqquire the bodies anyhow beason/truth? Very intresting though.

yea mw it is a guy from overseas, not sure where though. and yes we went to a museum.

dannyd no they dont "rob" the bodys. people donate there bodys to science.

i dont want to sound like an ass or nothing but how do you donate a body? the person before they die signs a paper saying they are willing to give their body to science?

you dont have to answer i dont think i will ever understand.

yes you fill out a form. just like donating your organs. i think one of the links says they have like 6000 people signed up.

I would rather be an Organ Doner and actually be used to save lives rather than be skinned and put on display.

My aunt had 3 heart attacks and she was an Organ Doner. The doctor took her Organ Doner card away and issued her a "Biohazardous Waste" Card.

LOL

see spit you have to understand that these people are helping to save people lives to. and a bunch more of them per body. see not only do these donars get worked on by people becoming doctors, so they can practice on non living people befor jumping into a real living person. but most of the plastisized bodys get used to train doctors and medical students. see they get to "see" what it looks like inside the body, and how things fit together. how things work, what thing look like when they have a problem, ect. as far as I'm concerned the bodys donated to science are saving as many if not more then the bodys donated for organs, you can normaly only use a few of the organs of any one person, but the cadavors and plastisized models can train numerouse medical students so that they can go on and heal many many many sick people.

mw there is a few pics of the pregenat lady in one of the links posted if you want to check it out.

I had the oppertunity to go but I gave up my seat to someone else on a trip, since I was thinking about going later. Then some chick stole the fetus from the exhibit shortly after and it closed.

i saw it last weekend up in philly. it was interesting. doesn't look real save for a couple models

Spit/Dannyd, people donate their bodies to all the time. Some donate themselves to schools to be used by students. Think about it, how do you think a doctor learns where all the parts are, eh? They disect them! A lot of times, you'll get paid for it upfront, just that you agree for a particular institution to have your body upon your death.

Personally, I think I will donate my body to The Chicken Ranch to be used as a training tool! Ahhhhhh, eternal bliss!
