RC Driving Style
well yesterday i was driving around my savage at work during a "break" for a thunderstorm (I'm a lifeguard in the summer). it wasn't raining or anything so i was just cruisin around. and then the engine shuts off ... so i figure, ok it stalled. i restart it, it stalls . restart stall restart stall... then i finally get it to keep running. its running at about normal running temp 230 deg. and I'm zipping it around no problem. then i take it to the street and lay it out and it hits second gear, is in second for about 3 seconds... shuts off. i pick it up , check the temp and all. still normal 225-230. then i try to start, and the engine is completely locked up, will NOT start. the rotostart can't get it to even turn over haf a turn or anything...

the point...

i take the engine apart (as much as i could) and notice that my piston has cracked in half (top and bottom half) and the connecting rod has shot through the bottom half of the piston. the engine has about 2 gallons (including break in) on it and was broken in MORE tanks then what the manual even said. then treated like a baby basically for a whole gallon. then built into full speed. needless to say i am PISSED... i can't get the back plate off, i can't get the sleeve out, i can't get anything off the engine. (i saw the damage from the top (head off) and the back (rear exhaust port). I am wondering what i could do to maybe get some kind of replacement or something. or am i just screwed out of 150 bucks for a new engine ?

Wow. That really sucks. I would contact Ofna directly and tell them about your situation. I would also take some digipics and send them along with the e-mail. The worst they can say is no.

If they say no then you will have to either spend some cash to rebuild the engine or purchase a new one.

Why can't you get the back plate off? Is one of the screws stripped? Once you get that off you can use the end of a screw driver or something small and push the sleeve out of the case.

one of the screws stripped in the back. i had to use red loctite on them to keep them in because they would always vibrate loose and the back plate would start to loosen up and cause air leaks. then taking them out i stripped one ...

Ah...for the stripped screw you will need a dremel and a cut off wheel. This part gets a little tricky. You will want to use the cut off wheel to cut a slot into the head of the screw. The screws into the back plate are tiny so you will want to take your time.

:OMG: :OMG: :OMG: :OMG: :OMG: :OMG: :sorry: :OMG: :OMG: :jet: :OMG: :OMG: :OMG:

i talked to my guy at the hobby shop, he said to send it back and they will send me a new one . I'm going to call them tomorrow, hopefully he is right ... if he is ill be very happy ... ill keep you posted
