I was running my t maxx in street yesterday trying to tune it.. Thought I was about there good smoke, cooling head was not hot..I was full throttle and then all the sudden POOF! the cooling head blows off with piston sleeve still attached...can anyone tell me what I done wrong/or what happened

how can the sleeve and piston be attached to the head ??unless you got it so hot that they fused together ( if thats even possible )..lol...should have taken some pics ;)

what kind of rpm was the engine turnig? did you taze the spur gear and run the engine too fast?

I don't believe it. The crank pin would have to break along with all the head bolts. If the head bolts were starting to come loose it would've just quit running.

The only possibility is if you had one bolt holding the head and it broke allowing the sleeve to come out followed by the piston and rod assembly, which is still a fat chance.

Either way I would have loved to see it ;)

i uploaded some pictures...i was going full speed, the cooling head unbolted from top of head...dont know too hot i guess

Wait....that doesn't look like a cooling head section, that looks like the damn thing broke between fins...

took the screws out of the cooling head after this happened..the piston looks effed up too... i bought this truck used and the previous owner didnt clean good..had problems with glow plugs, air bubbles in fuel, carb probs, so I'm going to rebuild it and start over! i mean buy another motor

Where's the actual cooling head at? The piece your holding looks like it broke off. Cooling head should rise up about an inch or more above the glow plug.

Yea man, unless the 3.3 is supposed to come apart, looks like your engine blew apart. Anyone know if traxxas will take care of this, seems like a bad mill to me.

called them said nothing they could do...i dont think he understood what i was saying to him.....my lhs has a tmaxx, big block enigie all aluminum chassis and bunch of hop ups think I'm going to get that for extra parts only $150...is it hard to convert my chassis to fit a big block engine? its a complete truck with no radio

Telling by the color of that head with how dark it is, you either burned it WAY too hot or had a real bad heat/leak that made it do a vapor lock and sheer off, thats some wicked ass carnage thanks :D

it maybe just the picture but it looks like it was cracked already. is where it broke shine all the way around or is there part of it kind of dull looking.
