I didn't really see anything that fit this so yeah, I thought I'll start something.

I know it's an RC forum but we have all dealt with real life situations, on or off the track, and on or off the rocks.

Anyone ever deal with bullying at work with adults? I'm in my forties and I thought I left this stuff behind but infact, I have not.

I joined an organization that rents commercial space from another organization, we run educational programs at the same time under the same roof under different banners. They own the facility.

Their staff can be for a lack of a better word, crude. They make racist jokes, joke about income or income disparity, they poke fun at your physical appearance. Not constantly, but at any time a situation can go sideways.

A discussion, a light hearted joke which is then met in return with a personal attack, etc.

I feel like I have reached my breaking point with it.

It's hard because I enjoy the creative things I get to do along with the income. But the mental health impact is undeniable.

I am contemplating submitting my resignation as I don't see things improving. This behavior is seemingly condoned by the top who part take (CEO).

Opinions?

Its tough because I am held to different standards and codes of conduct.
But you're gunna quit anyway. Office space it. Just stop caring. And bully em harder. Gotta study the greats for good burns brah. Either you fit in better or you get let go and go on EI. Rules are for rule followers. And I only have one rule and that rule is I don't follow anyone's rules. Not even my own.....

Office pranks. Rage bait them. Get under their skin without them knowing its you.

That really sucks that you have to deal with that. I love to joke around and get rough at times, but I also know where to draw the line and not be an butthead. If I go a bit too far and someone calls me out, I make it right and learn from it. Probably not the answer your want to hear, but you have to be secure in yourself and not give a crap about what they have to say. You know who you are and it doesn't matter what they think. I would avoid conversation and not give them the satisfaction. At the end of the day they will return to their miserable lives, and you can go home secure knowing you didn't let them "re-define" who you are.

I dont think theres an easy answer. What works for one may not for another.

I establish hard lines early on with harsh penalties for crossing those lines. If a line is crossed, it usually only happens once.

Always stand your ground regardless of the consequences. At the end of the day, your the one who has to live with your decisions. Do what makes you feel right with yourself.

I personally cannot/will not let someone push me around. I'm not saying its easy, but necessary. I've also been beaten, stabbed, and shot so there can be consequences. I dont regret any of it. I sleep well knowing that I'm in control of my ship, and no one else gets to course correct.

So back to rule one? When do you execute something? 😉

Love th GIF
Cams everywhere, CEO has it on his phone.

Be smart, do the right thing, and let them burn in their insecurities. Sometimes the garbage brings itself out :thumbs-up:

I agree.

Thank you.
I really appreciate that.

I was staying at home with my son, we were having fun. Playing with hot wheels, RC's, slot cars, watching movies, it was awesome!
Then this "dream job" came calling.

They say don't meet your heros kids.

This is America!
Sue them for all their worth for the emotional damage they have caused you! Don't forget to add your legal fees to your claim.

I'm in the land of maple syrup. Not a lot of protections for anything, really. Consumer protection, non existent. My management..."woah! Did you sanitize those documents, if not we do not what to see them."

They received the redacted copies this evening.
As did both my managers and HR.

I like maple syrup  ;)

We all like a good ribbing, but not at the expense of others. You have to know when it's gone to far. If you can't over look it, and the people in charge won't reign in their behavior, it's time to move on.

Hostile work environments are not worth your health. Stress does not just go away, it's cumulative. Make sure you have another opportunity before you bail. Just my opinion.

To kinda wrap this rant up, I have officially filled a complaint with my HR department and am taking some time off. It's for the best.
They can do an investigation and figure out what they want to do. Not my mess anymore.
Thank you to everyone who chimes in, appreciate ya!
