I bought the BNF version of the 230S this weekend. I also picked up a Spektrum 6e transmitter. It took my old ass a full day to figure out all the binding via video and to update the firmware so I could actually access Forward Programming. Calibration was also an issue as I tried to maiden it yesterday and it was not having it. I finally figured out I had to unplug the motors, and it calibrated. Second flight a few minutes ago was scary. It's a little better, still drifting back and left (which I've heard can be an issue). I'm about to try a trim flight and see if that helps...but one question (my only other helicopter was a blade nano and can't remember which, it was micro) the throttle stick seems SUPER sensitive, and I have it in what the video I watched deemed "normal" mode. Any rec's on telemetry changes to ease off the sensitivity a bit? I don't know the verbiage fully, so bear with me.

I forgot to add...I love the build quality and feel of the helicopter, just intimidating to fly around in my backyard at the moment.

You probably need to calibrate the stability mode. The throttle remains a constant with collective pitch heli’s. You can adjust head speed for the different modes (normal, idle up1, and idle up2) that will help tame it down a bit.
But collective pitch just takes some getting used too..

I did calibrate it this afternoon...I also did a trim flight after the calibration didn't do a ton. I have to hold the heli slightly forward/right or it drifts back/left...I got back from taking the wife and family to hibachi and got a last flight in...starting to slightly get a hand of the sensitive nature of the throttle and controls, but that drift is making it difficult to concentrate on much else...thank God for the "hold" switch
 
Honestly, even having to fight it to keep it centered is actually beneficial imo. Once you fly without stability mode, it’s basically a game of balancing the heli on an invisible beach ball so to speak.. So I’d just keep practicing hovering for now and then practice your different orientations (tail in, L side in, R side in, then finally nose in.) and keep that hold switch handy.. 😉

It’s takes a lot of patience! Just have fun don’t try and do too much at once. Tiny movements on the sticks! Over correction is the killer.

I was busy most of the day with work and getting my little track out back further down the line...I did get another flight in this evening when the wind died down some. It is 100% just going to take time behind the controls. I need a real space to fly it, seriously considering checking out a local airfield and seeing what it is like.

Back in the 80s, I remember me and my buddies would see the nitro powered choppers, they were huge, 2 smoking behemeths. You got either a kit or a ARF according to RCM modeler. The prices scared us chicken scratch earners for sure. Made in Japan with Quality OS engines, they used a drill type starter with a crazy thick rubber band, and they flew like the real thing. I'm sure some training was necessary.
