Hey, I need a engine for my tmaxx that would make it go faster. Possibly up to 50-55 mph. I still want it to run properly and controlable but i like to bash and I want a easy to tune , fast, durible engine, Please help

Thanks!

Sup dude,

Welcome to RCNT. THeir is no yes or now specific answer to your question as it's all relative. You also need to be more specific about what you want to do and how much money you have to spend. 50-55 isn't a realistic goal but it's possible and especially if your @ sealevel. Many people don't realize that adding a big bore wont add alllot more top end speed to your maxx but it will get their ALLOT faster. Your gearing is what's going to give you more top end speed combined with a screaming power plant.

The Sirio .18 is a kick ass total "drop-in" engine for your stock flywheel, engine mount and clutch setup. It'd definitley more of a top end engine. If you want to go big bore your looking @ spending a chitload of money to replace a plehtora of stock parts (possible driveline, tranny ect) that can't handle the power and especially the torque

FYI....I've seen people here that melted their stock plastic tranny gears with lower gearing and a Sirio .18. I've also seen many peeps with tweaked stock drivline sliders with the stock gearing a SIrio .18.

Speed costs money, how fast do you really wanna go??

Peace

The first thing you need to understand is that this question gets asked over and over. T Maxxes typically in good running order are about a 40 or so mph RC. Your request is to increase speed by 33%. 50-55 mph is a tall order. Fast is possible, controllable is a taller request and durable isn't going to be in your vocabulary if you loose control of it and hit something at that speed. I bash and I know I will hit something. You could do it if you built one from scratch using lightweight materials and dropped in a high-end big block.

Although the Sirio TX18 is a powerful engine, I know people that has problems with its reliability (air leaks, wearing out too soon). The other choices are Epic .18, Fantom FR18'03, Picco P2 .21, or even an RB V15 (if you can get a pullstart mod for it).

I went with a PROHOBBY chassis and box and single shock per wheel and a Novarossi .12 fully ported and I would guess with a 18 tooth clutch bell and 72 spur the speed must be close to 45 to 50.The truck weight is 6lb 8 oz and all stock parts for the front end and rear end are retained ,the whole key is power to weight !!!!!!

Well said StretchM.....

It's normal for those new to this hobby to be freaking overhwhelmed with the aftermarket and especially with the imnesely popular T-maxx. You truly can go from wild to wilder to borderline insanity (LOL).

Even with endless wads of cash to spend on killer hop-ups, You can't always have your cake and eat it too. The best way to increase speed on the top end is higher gearing, leightweight and added power. The Big bore chassis are extended some as to add more stability during high speed runs and in generall driving. Even with an extended chassis it's not uncommon to have a relatively unstable truck @ high speeds if your running allot of big bore power. Lack of stability='s higher likelyhood of having a nasty wreck @ high speeds that can do allot of damage. Using leightweight parts to increase said speed will generally decrease integrity (strength) and cause ALLOT of damage when you do have a wreck. The best way to go is a great combination of durability and speed but it's not going to be cheap.

Whenbreath - You need to do a ton of research on T-maxx hop-ups in general to decide how much money your willing to spend on the end results that you desire. Most of the people here with 50MPH Maxx's have spent a ton of money upgrading the Tranny, Driveline and most every freaking part on their maxx. Learn to read-between the lines and know that opinions are like assholes.

Peace

Hey,

Higher ALLtitudes = less oxygen and vice versa. More oxygen @ low alltitudes and the lowest best being sea level ='s more efficient combustion and more power.

Peace

21 conversion, high power 21 engine, 40 series rims/tires, high gearing.

Granted, if you hit 50 with this, a little twitch of the wheel will send you to the graveyard.

How much are you willing to spend???

I mean you could do a .21 conversion and engine for about $350. You could invest in a larger clutch bell and smaller spur gear. You'd lose acceleration but you'd have great top end. If you have the technical know how you could try getting a 3 speed to work in a T-maxx, something that I tried but was not too successful with. Literally the sky is the limit as far as things you can try. You just have to pick one and give it a whirl.

Thank you to all your answers.. looks like imma go w/ the sirio .18 Thanks!!! lAtEr:yes: :redbuggy:

i am pretty sure the only way u are goign to get a maxx up to 50-55mph is by doing a .21 conversion. and then spend about $500 or more on an engine. a guy at the lhs runs a RB rody c5 and man that truck flat out halls balls. it is running atleast 45mph, but i dont no why u would want to go any faster? i thought monster trucks were made for jumps and stuff not drag racing
