Besides Thingiverse, what’s some good sites for RC related .stl’s?

I typically Google what I am looking for, like scx24 stl file. Google does a lot better job than the 3d site search engines. Plus, there are some sites out there where users sell their stl files for very reasonable prices. Google finds some cooler stuff because of those random sites out there.

I don't typically print other oeople's stuff. I can't tell you how many times I have, only to find out they modeled something wrong.

My advice is download the free version of Fusion 360 and watch some YT vids on how to use it. Like this 3 part series

I’m a CAD/CAM guy by trade. I have the Autodesk Inventor Pro software. I just don’t have time to mess with my own stuff I sneak one in here and there. I like searching the sites with a term like “Tekno” or “B74.1” I find things that I hadn’t even considered that way.

I’d really love to find a complete 3D model assembly of each of my cars. I need to get one of those 3d scanners. Hmmm I wonder how I could sell that to the boss and get the company to buy one…

They are nice. We had one at Applied Composites that they used to scan the molds we made. The inspector claimed is was accurate within a couple tenths according to their CMM. I am sure the hobby grade ones are far from that accuracy, but for what we would use them for, I'm sure they're more than fine. I would love to have one. I am currently reverse engineering this chassis rail with calipers, some 123 blocks, and a cheap carpenter's protractor.

I sold all my thousands of dollars in machinists tools years ago, and I am still kicking my butt for not hanging onto my gage block sets, gage pins, radius gages, etc, not to mention my Starrett stuff.

Download Cura, too. I have FeatureCam, Fusion 360, & Cura. 360 will open STLs & can modify them. Then move to Cura to render the 3d print & settings.

Simplify 3d here. I'll never go back to Cura after doing a bunch of testing with both. Simplify creates smoother toolpaths.

The machines I have at work are Markforged machines. They use their own proprietary cloud based software called eiger. The machines print carbon infused nylon and interleave actual full strand carbon fiber layers to make structural prints. They do that to screen so you can’t print gun parts with them. I’m planning to do truck length arms for my B74.1 at some point to make it into a mini truggy.

Ha no. That’s stuff is at my job. Big factory that makes the exterior for skyscrapers. Been wanting one for home but why buy one when I can use theirs for free!

I like freecad ..... it seems to do what i need it to fairly easily ..... i tried fusion 360 ... but it has a pretty steep learning curve to it .... most my stuff is basic things with general shapes and dimensions .... I'm not building a gear box or anything like that ... lmao .... heres my latest base for my new shock rebuild station ..... modular in design .... can change the upper plates out to be able to put a toll holder .... motor holder ... etc. depending on what you are doing with your rigs ...

Agreed and of all the ones I’ve used I think fusion 360 has the best user interface and mastercam has the worst.

Hey, if anyone is looking for RC 3d print models, you can check out CGTrader marketplace. I have printed out a few models for my local RC competitions and those models were sturdy and fast.
