14 years ago my then wife brought home a dachshund. he was a fantastic dog. he all was had love for people. he got older and couldnt do some of the things he could before. last week on the 10th he got so sick, we took him to the doctor. the short story is we had him put under. it is so hard to talk about i had to wait till now to post this. i know many of you have gone through this kind of thing. if you have a dog go hug and kiss him , cause you dont know how long they will be with us.

Very sorry to hear about your loss bro. My chihuahua is almost 11 and is on medication so I know its coming soon too and am sure dreading the day.

Sorry to hear that bro.. I myself have 3 dogs, two lhasa apsos and one big yellow lab(but hes white?? wtf).. I would hate to see one of them go, and I know that one day it will happen though. It happens to all of us, but nobody wants to see it happen. Any plans to get another one?

If your pet doesn't feel like part of your family - you shouldn't have a pet!

Sorry for your loss moe :(

you put it perfectly. i have a brussels griffon and he is awesome. my son will be heart broken if anything happens to him. i still remember when we had to put our last dog down. i think i cried for a week. take care

I'm sorry for your loss..
I my self have dogs two boxers and a mini dachshund. That i love more then life it self.
some people don't understand the idea of treating our animals like childern.
My self i do my kids have there own new couch they sleep on a bed a real one.
They have never been chained or put in a pen.I would never allow it.
when i go on vacation if they can't come with me..i have friends stay at my house.
once again I very sorry for your loss.

I am really sorry for loss. I lost my dachshund due to heat stroke when he was 7. I still miss him. He was a puppy of my wife's dog that chose me. (sniffle)

i am so blessed to have friends you all. its amazing how big your family gets when trouble comes your way. thanks so much. to: zandor and hamz, the doc told us that you can't feed a dachund just any thing, mostly NO table scraps, what they eat can kill them. so be carcefull. again thanks guys.

Sorry for your loss Moe, one of the hardest things I ever did was hold my best friend in my arms as she went off the sleep for the last time, after a year long battle with cancer, I would not watch her suffer any more. I still miss her a ton and think about her all the time, she was the best friend I ever had.

Rolex was the name of my best buddy when I joined this forum. He was with me for 14 years and I got him at 2. I cried for days when he was gone. He wasn't my dog, he was my buddy, my companion, my partner.
I totally understand what you're going through. They are closer than family because they are so loving and totally dependent on you.
Some people say they will never get another after they lose one. Just think about this....
The fun, laughter and happiness they gave you when they were with you FAR outweighs the sadness of their loss.
If you never get another one, you'll never experience that type of happiness and companionship again.
Now I have Seiko. Yes, I like watch dogs. :D
