does anybody know where i can send my wasp .28 to get ported and polished, also get the crank balanced and blueprinted? :smoke:

I've never heard of these engines getting balanced and/or blueprinted, but RB mods, and eb mods do some great work. I've seen and driven a few of RB mods engines are completly insane. The work he does is worth the 100 he charges to get it done!

Eb mods gets my vote. I orderd a Nova .28 from them, have not fired it up but they were very friendly.

PiErow, do you know how much EB mods charges for a port job? $100 is too much for me but I am thinking of getting a wasp .28 for my LSP and getting that ported, I love having too much power :)

No...one of my buddies did it for me, it wasn't his first and he did a great job. He basically followed the s-25 engine mod done by steve pond in an issue of rcca. Simple mod but very effective!

Also make sure you contact the modifiyer. Most will not mod an engine that has seen fuel.

that I don't know. You would have to call them and find out. Don't forget, the crank is also touched (if called upon via the "Full Option" request).

Hey vb, I am thinking of just selling the .26 and get a Wasp .28. I really think the B3 won't be enough for bashing. The B3 I think would be a great race motor, has very smooth and controllable power, but I like the insaneness of a .28 :D I am still going to try the B3 in it before I do anything, but this is what I am thinking.

I was thinking about maybe modding the Wasp after selling both engines but now that I remmember how much my old wasp had in the savage i don't think i will need to do that.

Sorry a lil of topic, but still has to do with porting lol.

ac my mom might buy your 26 if you sell it and if she gets a buggy

can't Guarentee it tho.

Is It Better than the 26 the ofna ultra comp lx comes with?

If it is shell prolly buy it.

Like I Said I can't Guarentee it.

Lol She Might get a wasp too.

rick at rbmods should help ya out... a bunch of his sponsered drivers come in my shop and their cars are insane..the major difference I've noticed is the smoothness of the powerband and power of course

I have a wasp.28, a friend had one also, and I've seen a third one. I tell you it's one cheap piece of crap. If you want to get good life out of an engine and/or have it last after you modify it get a better made engine like a Nova base .28 or atleast a wasp/picco .26 or .27.

The wasp.28 has a sub .21 size block making the intake runners in the block too small for the flow needed for the engine to breath properly, small main bearing, poorly cast and machined block, and mostly there are pits in the block from the poor casting. Why waste money on it?

if you read any other of my forms you will know that i had nothing but grief with mine,so i switched to collari 30,but instead of throwing out the wasp i wanted to see what could be done with it.yes the front bearing is very weak on my motor, the oring went on the high idle needle,it was a nightmare..but orion was quick to responed to my e-mail,sent a new rubber front bearing to replace the factory steel one.as for the rest they sad send it ib we will fix it,but who wants to go with out a motor?so i went with collari instead.

I have had very different experiences with my Wasp .28 then both of you. Mine ran great, and had buttloads of power. It was able to wheel my savage easily, and then push it much faster than I have seen a savage go. It was a huge power increase over the XTM 24.7 I had in the truck. I do not have the money for a Nova based .28 unless you can find one for $150. I have owned 5 different larger than .21 engines and by quite a bit the wasp is my favorite.

I am not doubting a nova is a better, well made engine, but I think the wasp is a great engine for the price, only like $20 more than a 24.7 and there is a huge power increase over it.

i got a e-mail back from rb mods, they said the wasp is not a quality motor and if they tried to modify it,it would only last 1-11/2 gallons before dying....so there's my answer,i guess i'll order a new piston and sleave install a new rubber front seal and sell it
