I can't tell when I need to replace a glow plug. I'm not that good in tuning so when the car is not idle well, I replace the plug (almost everytime I play it). I can't tell the difference between bad glow plug or bad tunning on the LSN. I have no problem tunning HSN. Glow Plugs are not that cheap, so if it's not dead, I don't want to replace it. How can you tell when the plug is finishing its life? Thanks!

You need to use a good quality recargeable glow plug ignitor. These make all the difference in the world... I usually test my plug in the ignitor. If you have a few coils that dont glow brightly, the plug is usually on it's way out. For the most part, you can still use them like that. A glow plug usually works, or it doesn't..

I have seen some glow plugs not run when the ignitor is taken off. That might be something to look for. Also for the LSN do the pinch test if you dont know it some of these guys will be able to tell you more than I can. Basically you pinch the fuel line going into the carb. About an 1.5 inches from the inlet nipple of the carb. What this does is makes the engine burn the fuel it has stored in the case. It should only have about 3 seconds worth of fuel. After 3 seconds it should start dieing and be dead by four. IF it takes more than 4secs and it kinda lulls down it is too rich. If it takes less than 4 secs and it revs up before it dies its too lean. Hope this helps and if I said something wrong someone jump and tame me.

the glow plug wont light up .. if it is not good... just make sure your glow ignitor is up....

Thank you all, that sounds simple. I may complicate things myself. Thanks again.
