RC Driving Style
I was running my truck yesterday, and it was running great. Then it just stopped and I could't get it to even sound like it might start. I replaced the air filter and put in a new glow plug, verified my igniter was working and nothing helped. I was near the end of the gallon bottle of fuel, which I was using, and it had been in my trunk for about a week (I know I'm not suppose to keep it there). I was wondering if when fuel does go bad, would the worst of it settle at the bottom? I'm going to get some new fuel.
 
get a new bottle...you know you'll need it soon anyway...if it starts up and runs fine, you've solved the problem.....I don't see fuel going bad that fast though....store it in a cool dark place off of the floor...the ground (cement in particular) actually pulls content through the plastic and degrades your fuel, but that would take a LONG time to do......

I'm sure the average user will not even notice a difference.....I've just read all the techno weenie babble about the fact these bottles WILL let liquid through if they are set on concrete or dry pourous (sp) material......it would take longer than I let my fuel sit I know that :D......
 
New fuel didn't make any difference, but as I was taking it apart to clean...ouch.... something got into the piston sleeve and created a major gouge down the side of the pistion... probably resulting in zero compression.
 
Maybe your piston wrist pin clip came out.

I store my fuel in my trunk all the time. The bottle I'm finishing up now is over a month old. Still burns fine.
 
Well if the pistion wrist pin clip is on the side of the exhaust then that's it. The gouge starts exactly above the hole. But in my exploded view, it shows the wrist pin clip being on the other side? The sleeve is barely scratched, but the side of the piston is a different story.
 
to get by in those cases..I've added a buttload of castor oil to my fuel (filler bottle at a time)....it gives a better seal around the piston head but isn't the final cure....just enough to get ya through a track day.....
