I went out today to try to get some run time with my RC10 Gt which I have only ran about 10 or 15 minutes since I got it a month ago for my b-day. I have been at the doctors alot for my back and havent done much because I have been hurting. Anyway I couldnt get that thing to even sputter a little bit. It wouldnt start for anything, I tried moving the Hsn a little at a time and still no luck. I'm using fresh fuel and even tried a new glow plug and 3 different ignitors. When I pulled the plug there was a lot of sludge on it and on top of the piston. It ran good when I first got it but I havent been able to get it to run since. The last time I started it, it fired right up but wouldnt idle now it wont do anything. I need help any Ideas???

Then after giving up on the RC10. My youngest son and I took out his electric Rustler and his brothers Rustler and we where having a good time. I was driving my oldest son's truck since he wasn't here and the tranny blows a gear!! after about 5 minutes. The worst part is I just fixed it for him, he only has ran it for a few minutes since he got it and the first time I take it out something else breaks in the tranny . I was so frustrated!!! I'm sure many of you have had worse days, but man that just pissed me off. Anyway please can you give me some ideas with the RC10 I would greaty appreciate it :)

Hows the compression on the Rc10gt? If the compressions fine, the only thing I can think of would be to drop in a new plug, and set your needle back to the factory settings and try to re-tune it. Good luck bro!

It has really good compression, I guess I need to figure out what the factory setting are I have no clue  I'm just worried about all the black sludge in the engine.

this "sludge" your talking about, is it slimy, metal, corassion or what??

It almost like grease, I dont think it has metal in it. I'm thinking of pulling off the head and see if I can get a better look.

and its black, there was a lot on the first plug I pulled, I just checked the one that I last tried and its clean but there is junk on the top of the piston.

I'd pull the whole mill apart and clean it with denatured alcohol. It never got ran without the air filter did it?

I pulled the head off and there was some little bits of grime, kind of like a grease build up but nothing major. I did noitice the sleave doesn't fit real tight in the block is that normal? The .15 In my T-maxx isnt like that.

tear the entire mill down. check for rust, worn parts, etc. make sure the piston and sleeve arent scored and fit well. reassemble with afterrun oil or mineral oil from the drug store to lube it and rtv to prevent airleaks. once the motor has been gone over, tear down the carb and clean, lube, reassemble that too. then start with the base settings and a new plug, that should get you going. a good fresh start is always a good idea so you know what your working with.

Thankyou very much Corrado! I will probably end up doing that since I bought it used on Ebay and I dont know what its been through. I did pull the head off and the cylinder wall looked good and it still has lots of compression. Thanks again man!

I had the same problem in my RS4 3> when i had the stock Motor. And this guy at the race told u never put ur RC Car away for a long time with gas in it . U have to let the car run out of gas to put it away for long time.

I had the same problem w/ my rush yesterday, I couldn't get it to start for anything, so I just kept on tryin, then after about 30 mins I got it started and running good. It would've been bad if I couldn't get it started cause I sold it on ebay, and it was due to ship out today. Then, for the longest time I couldn't get the radio sys to work! But I got it all working, and shipped it out today.....ahhh it was nice to get rid of all those parts takin space in my pit box...

Yeah I learned that the hard way with my T-Maxx lol. I usally will drain the tank if there is anything left in it when I'm done.

that was prolly what the "black" stuff was.. left over oil from the fuel.. one more vote for the clean out..

Jesse are you using ARO....EVERY time you run?and making sure the piston is BDC when it's not running.....those issues won't really help w/ this situation but thought I'd throw a reminder to ya.....and I'm w/ the crowd on this one...tear it down and clean it out.....look for scoring on th episton head sides as well....sounds like whoever you got this from never did maintenance on his mill......when you tear it down and clean it you might have more issues to fix too......If you can get the sleeve pinchedbefore you run it again too...that "sludge" might be the only thing giving you compression if it's thick enough to e coating your plug like that.....
