I have a very bad habit of upgrading and failing to keep anything stock šŸ˜‚ I recently (of course) got my hands on one of the new Mini Kratons. It's a great truck and it really doesn't need any upgrades at all. But well... Here we are... In the deep. Again. I've ordered basically almost everything that make sense to convert from plastic to 7075 aluminum - keeping the things that doesn't make sense. You need certain things to be able to flex and bend back thus I'm not upgrading the arms etc.

Anywho. Here she is. Straight out of box. ARRMA really did a good job on this truck and put a lot of thoughts into evolving the already soled Grom platform.

First thing is to strip the electronics. We don't need those ones do we?

Because we have new ones...

Hobby Wing QuickRun WP 10BL60 G2 ESC and QuickRun 2850 3400kv motor. Still 3S but a must more powerful ESC capable of outputting 60 amp and 400kv more compared to the original 3000kv motor. I'm not planning on making the truck insane we just need that extra punch 🄳

Motor in and truck stripped for most of the parts we won't need anymore. Was a bit of a hassle since the Hobby Wing motor uses M3 screws and the stock motor and motor mount M2.5. I had to grind a bit on the M3 screw heads to get things to fit but now it's in there perfectly.

I got my hands on a 3D printer and designed a receiver box for the Kraton. This is still just a prototype and needs a bit more evolvement for cable management. But the basics are there 😃

Now I just need to wait for a pile of parts that will arrive during the week.

Hope you like it and will follow along ā˜ŗļø

Got the bullet plugs on the ESC resoldered from 4mm to 3.5mm to fit the motors input, also got the electronics buttoned up and finished the receiver box 😊

And yes, the body fits :)

Got a bit further. Electronics fully installed. GPM wheel hubs, steering knuckles, chassis brace, steering mechanism and steering links, ESC mounting plate, battery strap and shocks installed. Still waiting for a few bits to show up. GPM 7075 differential covers and shock towers along with a new powerful servo.

Got to test the new motor and ESC combo today. Guess I was wrong when I stated it would just give me a bit more punch and speed. It's bonkers šŸ˜‚

Looks good! I'm waiting on a few parts for my over-the-top build too! Had a question about yer radio box. You mind sharing the .stl? Looks like that might work out well in my case as I also have the stubby batteries... Great idea!

Nice!

Of course you can. Send me a DM 😊

On the subject of the radio box.
I'm building a crawler, not a basher, (1/10) but i assume the concept is the same
This is completely new to me as the small scale ones I have (24th and 30th) don't use receiver boxes.
How do you get the wires in and keep it tight? Makes no sense to me and the directions don't explain it at all
